This prestigious fellowship is designed for mid-career journalists to take a break from their regular work and engage deeply with the field of journalism.
Through personal research, seminars, networking events, and discussions with fellow journalists, you will expand your knowledge of journalism, the news industry, and your role within it. While at Oxford, you will focus on a project that has direct relevance to your career, newsroom, and the broader media landscape, integrating what you learn during the fellowship.
This program is tailored for working journalists and editors who intend to return to the profession after spending a few months at the Institute.

Funding Information (Reuters Institute Journalist Fellowship Programme 2025 2026 Funding Available)
- The majority of journalists in the program receive full funding. Selected applicants will have their fees covered and receive a monthly stipend of £2,000, sufficient to cover accommodation, meals, and other living expenses.
- Additionally, travel expenses to and from the UK, as well as visa fees, will be reimbursed. Fellows are expected to focus entirely on the program and refrain from professional work during their fellowship period.
Eligibility Criteria (Reuters Institute Journalist Fellowship Programme 2025 2026 Funding Available)
- To be eligible for a journalist fellowship, applicants must have at least five years of journalistic experience, or in exceptional cases, demonstrate an equivalent level of expertise.
- Freelance journalists are welcome to apply, but applications are not accepted from individuals working in public affairs, public relations, or corporate communications.
- The Journalist Fellowships are open to journalists globally, including those from Europe, Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, North America, and Latin America.
- While English language proficiency is not formally tested, applicants should be able to understand and participate in discussions conducted in English.
