The Universal Immunization Programme of the Government of India (UIP) aims to achieve full immunization of all target-age children and mothers in India, through state-and district-specific delivery of vaccines. India declared 2012 as the year of strengthening routine immunization (RI). To augment its ongoing efforts around immunization, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India has now entrusted JSIPL with the management of the Immunization Technical Support Unit (ITSU) in collaboration with other partners. This effort emphasises addressing national programs and priorities in delivering real change and impact by working closely with the health system, government, and key stakeholders including civil society organizations. The ITSU, provides techno-managerial support for scaling up the UIP, enabling system strengthening for providing quality services and supporting implementation of MoHFW’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan for Immunization. The ITSU Phase III will focus on providing technical input to the GOI, MoH&FW, and coordination with immunization partners with the aim of helping India accelerate progress in achieving 90% full immunization coverage (FIC).

Program Associate – Health Systems Strengthening, under the guidance of Program Lead – Health Systems Strengthening will provide technical support to review immunization coverage in priority states under the directions of supervisor and track the progress on the action points in collaboration with immunization partners with a focus HSS Gavi support and other priorities as identified by ministry. This role involves travel to the states as per requirement.

Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance to the HSS team for activities planned under the new India Gavi Partnership, specifically the Health Systems Strengthening III support.

Monitor and track all components of immunization program including planning, capacity building, implementation, MIS and monitoring, with particular attention to gender and equity issues in high priority states and districts prioritized to reach the zero-dose agenda.

Technical support to review immunization programme in priority states & Districts through desk reviews of immunization data from various sources including HMIS, WHO Concurrent Monitoring, RCH Portal, AEFI, eVIN, UWIN, NCCMIS and other survey data.

Track, Monitor and provide technical assistance to STFIs and track progress on actions points in priority states with a special focus on the Gavi HSS states and districts.

Participate in state and district reviews of immunization programmes in coordination with immunization partners to ensure coordination of effort under Gavi HSS deliverables.

Liaise with state government and partners in states to support in driving the activities planned under Gavi HSS 3 support.

Undertake field visits to priority states to support government counterparts in periodic program review as well as to monitor implementation of routine immunization activities, with special focus on activities planned under Gavi HSS 3 support

Identify and document the on-going successful models presently being followed by states in UIP and design state specific models for implementation

Technical support for urban immunization strengthening to inform strategy and plan for improving immunization coverage, with special focus on interventions undertaken under HSS 3 support.

Documentation of program activities, initiatives, progress reports etc.

Carry other activities as suggested by the supervisor

Qualifications and Skills

JSIPL seeks a results-oriented individual with the ability to produce high quality deliverables, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and meet tight deadlines with attention to detail. The successful candidate is required to have:

A Medical graduate – MPH/BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BUMS or similar fields, fresh graduates can also apply

Professional experience in Public Health – Immunization, Maternal and Child Health programme will be additional benefit

Good analytical, communication, team work and coordination skills

Excellent interpersonal relations; ability to network, work in multi-cultural team environment, and work harmoniously with multiple partners

Capable of introducing innovative strategies

Strong and proven documentation and organizational skills

Good working knowledge of computer applications, especially MS office, power points and MS excel
