Role Description

We are looking for a Research Associate – Legal & Policy who can combine primary field research with rigorous legal and policy analysis. This is a highly public-facing role, requiring daily interaction with lawyers, officials, institutions, and affected communities, while translating ground realities into structured research, policy briefs, and advocacy outputs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct primary field research through interviews with lawyers, judges, victims, hospitals, police, and authorities
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative field data
- Review and interpret case laws, court judgments, government notifications, and legal frameworks
- Analyze datasets from NCRB, MoRTH, IRDAI, WHO, and other repositories
- Draft academic-style research notes, policy briefs, reports, and explanatory documents
- Support stakeholder consultations with legal experts and policy practitioners
- Prepare presentations, policy decks, and advocacy materials
- Design survey tools, questionnaires, and structured research documentation
- Build and maintain strong external relationships while representing Crashfree India professionally
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in legal research, public policy, field research, or law firms
- Scholars or active members of the Public Policy India (PPI) community are encouraged to apply
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and summaries’ judgments, laws, and regulations
- Excellent academic and policy writing skills with structured, evidence-based thinking
- Comfortable conducting sensitive, people-facing interviews and stakeholder discussions
- Strong interest in justice systems, road safety, governance, and public policy reform
