Applications Now Open AsiaGlobal Fellows Program 2026, The AsiaGlobal Fellows Program is a multidisciplinary leadership development initiative designed for mid-career professionals who have a strong interest and proven commitment to public policy. Its goal is to cultivate emerging leaders and influential voices who can understand and interpret global challenges through Asian lenses.

The program is directed and managed by Asia Global Institute, a research institute dedicated to bringing Asian perspectives to key global debates. Through its platforms, AGI enables leaders to engage with complex, timely issues in a balanced and informed way. Supported by a network of international scholars, policymakers, and practitioners, AGI gives Fellows the opportunity to interact with global experts and thought leaders throughout the program.

Program Structure for Applications Now Open AsiaGlobal Fellows Program 2026

 

The AsiaGlobal Fellows Program brings together up to 20 participants each year for an intensive, interdisciplinary experience based in Hong Kong, typically held from September to November.

Lectures & Dialogues

Fellows engage in sessions led by scholars and seasoned professionals from academia, government, business, and civil society—both from Hong Kong and across the world.

Organization Visits & Networking

Participants visit local institutions and meet with leaders to observe real-world policy and governance practices.

Study Tour

A curated study trip to mainland China and/or other Asian cities offers first-hand exposure to regional cultures, development models, and policy landscapes.

Leadership Development

Specialized training sessions delivered by expert facilitators help Fellows strengthen a wide range of leadership competencies.

Knowledge Exchange in Hong Kong

Fellows share insights and expertise through various platforms, both on the HKU campus and within the wider Hong Kong community.

Mentoring HKU Students

Fellows guide and advise HKU undergraduates, offering mentorship, career counselling, and conducting learning sessions.

Intra-Fellow Learning

Peer-to-peer seminars encourage mutual learning, reflection, and exchange among Fellows.

Policy Research Project

Each Fellow completes an independent policy research project on a chosen topic, with academic guidance provided throughout the process.

Program Support for Applications Now Open AsiaGlobal Fellows Program 2026

 

Fellows receive:

  • A stipend to support living expenses during the residency in Hong Kong
  • Accommodation for the formal fellowship period
  • Coverage for study tour costs

All Fellows are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel to and from Hong Kong.

Eligibility Criteria for Applications Now Open AsiaGlobal Fellows Program 2026

 

Applications are welcome from professionals worldwide, across all sectors and backgrounds. To qualify, candidates must:

  • Be mid-career professionals with 8–25 years of work experience
  • Be involved in politics, policy work, research, civil society, or business
  • Demonstrate strong interest in the Asia-Pacific and global problem-solving
  • Show clear potential to create positive impact within their field and communities

The program values diversity in professional experience, academic backgrounds, and cultural identities.

Language Requirement for Applications Now Open AsiaGlobal Fellows Program 2026

 

All program activities are conducted in English, so applicants must be highly proficient in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Recommendation Letters for Applications Now Open AsiaGlobal Fellows Program 2026

 

Applicants must arrange for three independent recommendation letters from individuals who know them personally, are familiar with their work, and are not relatives. Once the application form is submitted, referees will be contacted directly via email.
