Overview of Pitches Invited for 2026 Text and Video Reports on Renewable Energy in India offered by EJN
India’s transition to clean energy and sustainable mobility is progressing rapidly, but significant work remains to achieve the country’s target of 500 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030, nearly double the capacity recorded in February 2026.
While the outlook is promising, several barriers persist—such as delayed payments to renewable energy companies, limited grid capacity, uncertainty around repowering old wind turbines, land shortages for new projects, and uneven rooftop solar expansion. Communicators play a vital role in highlighting these issues and promoting solutions so that the clean energy transition becomes a broader public movement.
To support this effort, the Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is inviting applications from communicators and social media creators in India to produce impactful stories on renewable energy. Selected participants will receive financial support and one-on-one editorial mentorship to develop high-quality reports.
