The program aims to strengthen youth leadership and increase young people’s participation in governance, policymaking, and community development across Nigeria.

The 2026 Youth Leadership Development Fund focuses on strengthening the youth ecosystem through leadership development, policy engagement, advocacy, and inclusive approaches to long-term national development.

Thematic Priorities for Apply for Nigeria Youth Futures Fund 2026

1. Policy and Advocacy
   Supports youth-led initiatives focused on Open Government Partnership participation, public sector reforms, youth policy review and implementation, legislative reforms, policy research, performance monitoring, and advocacy campaigns.
2. Electoral Engagement and Democratic Participation
   Encourages leadership development for young political aspirants, issue-based political participation, electoral reform advocacy, manifesto reviews, candidate debates, town hall meetings, and post-election accountability initiatives.
3. Accountability and Transparency
   Promotes stronger oversight of public institutions, budget monitoring and tracking, local government autonomy, and community governance scorecards.
4. Social Inclusion

Small Grants

• Amount: $1,000
• Target: 100 individual youth activists
• Focus: Youth development and transformative initiatives.

Development Grants

• Amount: $10,000
• Target: 60 grassroots youth-led organizations
• Focus: Community-based programs addressing youth development.

Eligibility Criteria for Apply for Nigeria Youth Futures Fund 2026

For Individuals

Applicants must be young changemakers aged 18–35 years with a proven record of implementing sustainable initiatives related to the program’s themes. They should demonstrate experience in youth activism, project management, strategic planning, and community engagement, along with strong values of integrity, innovation, and leadership. Applicants must provide valid identification or institutional affiliation and two credible referees.

For Youth-Led Organizations

Eligible organizations must be youth-led, youth-focused, and grassroots or community-based, with the capacity to design and implement sustainable development initiatives that benefit young people and their communities.
