The Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) Grow Programme is a key initiative under the broader EWA framework, launched by EIT Food to empower women entrepreneurs in the agrifood sector at the early stages of their journey. As part of its expanded structure, the EWA Grow Programme is designed to support women with early-stage startups or business ideas in developing, validating, and scaling their ventures.

Under this programme, up to 120 participants (10 from each eligible country) will be selected to join a 6-month cohort running from May to November 2026. Participants will receive comprehensive support, including expert-led training, personalised one-on-one mentoring, and access to valuable networking opportunities within both local and European agrifood ecosystems. The curriculum covers key areas such as business fundamentals, financial and legal aspects, market development, agrifood trends, and personal growth, along with regular mentoring sessions to help advance their ideas.

The programme also features important activities such as matchmaking events, masterclasses, and a final Demo Day, where selected participants will pitch their business ideas and compete for prizes of up to €10,000. Additionally, all participants will receive financial assistance to help cover programme-related expenses.

EWA Grow supports innovative agrifood solutions aligned with EIT Food’s strategic priorities, including resilient agriculture, biotechnology, and protein diversification. It also aims to bridge the gender gap in entrepreneurship by improving women’s access to knowledge, networks, and funding opportunities in the agrifood sector.

Eligibility Criteria for Apply Now Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) Grow Programme 2026 Fellowship Opportunity

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Identify as a woman
  • Be a resident of one of the eligible countries (Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Türkiye, or Ukraine). For startup representatives, the business must also be registered in one of these countries, along with strong proficiency in the local language
  • Demonstrate interest and a clear commitment to actively participate in programme activities, training sessions, and events
  • If already running a business, the company should not be older than three years
  • If the business idea has previously received funding, the total investment must be less than €60,000
