Initially launched as a fellowship program, DLF has since become a trailblazer in blending contemplative practices and personal well-being with the principles of social innovation.

Founded in 2010 with the inspiration and support of the 14th Dalai Lama, Dalai Lama Fellows (DLF) is redefining leadership by nurturing a global network of young changemakers who tackle pressing issues with locally tailored solutions, contributing to the well-being of our planet. The program offers year-long fellowships to individuals working in their communities to address key areas such as Health and Well-being, Education and Youth Development, Social Justice, Environmental Sustainability, Cultural Understanding, and Contemplative Practices. The initiative is inclusive and non-sectarian, welcoming participants from diverse backgrounds.
Each Fellow receives:
- Access to the unique Head, Heart, Hands online leadership curriculum throughout the year.
- Personalized coaching, both one-on-one and in small groups, to enhance their growth and leadership in social innovation.
- An opportunity to join the Contemplative Leadership Assembly, connecting with Fellows worldwide and engaging with expert faculty.
- Lifelong membership in a supportive, global learning community.
Eligibility Criteria

To meet the minimum requirements, candidates must demonstrate the following through their application:
- Age requirements: 20-36 years old as of April 1, 2025
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Current engagement with or well-articulated plans for a social change project and sustained engagement with the project throughout the fellowship year
- In-depth knowledge of the community and the issue that the project is seeking to address, preferably with at least one year of previous experience working with the community
- Interest in learning and engaging in contemplative practices throughout the year
- Commitment to participating in all dimensions of the program (online learning platform, 1-on-1 coaching calls, group learning calls, etc.)
- We estimate full participation in the fellowship requires about 12 hours per month, not including Fellows’ work on their projects
- Attendance at the Contemplative Leadership Assembly in July 2025 (DLF will cover all costs for travel, lodging, and meals for the Assembly)
