Apply for UN Grant Opportunity 2025 for Research of Insufficiently Vaccinated Children in the Region of Tadjourah: Funding Information, Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process Explained

Apply for UN Grant Opportunity 2025 for Research of Insufficiently Vaccinated Children in the Region of Tadjourah, UNICEF is reaching out to experienced and qualified organizations, inviting them to take part in an important initiative to improve vaccination coverage in Djibouti’s Tadjourah region. At the heart of this effort is a commitment to strengthening the national Expanded Vaccination Program (PEV) and fostering community involvement to ensure healthcare services are organized, understood, and accessed more widely—especially in remote areas where children are often missed.

Vaccination remains one of the most effective tools in public health, guarding against life-threatening yet preventable diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, mumps, pneumonia, and rubella. Every year, vaccines save millions of lives globally, yet access continues to be uneven. In Djibouti alone, more than two thousand children had not received any dose of the pentavalent vaccine by 2023, leaving them especially vulnerable.

This call for expressions of interest marks a vital step toward closing those gaps. The Tadjourah region comprises eleven health posts and one regional medical center, with each facility responsible for a specific geographic area. However, children in remote locations often remain unreached due to limited outreach or insufficient community engagement.

Organizations that respond to this call will be expected to build strong links between health institutions and the communities they serve. Their role will involve identifying underserved villages, educating residents about the benefits of vaccination, and creating structures like health committees and community relay teams. These relays will receive tailored training to raise awareness, locate children who have missed vaccinations, and coordinate outreach sessions in isolated areas. Oversight and regular evaluation will help ensure these interventions are both consistent and impactful.

Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the full details and submit their applications before the specified deadline to seize this grant opportunity.
