 About the Grant

(Apply for Funds for Seeding the Future Global Food Systems Challenge)

Hosted by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) and funded by the Seeding The Future Foundation, the Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge seeks to support innovative solutions that have the potential to create significant, scalable impact over time. The challenge focuses on innovations that benefit at least one of the following interconnected domains:

  • Nutritious food for a healthy diet
  • Sustainably produced food
  • Accessible, appealing, affordable, and trusted food for consumers

IFT and the Seeding The Future Foundation are calling on scientists, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and multidisciplinary teams from a diverse range of organizations—including NGOs, non-profits, social enterprises, universities, research institutions, and small for-profit enterprises—to submit bold, game-changing innovations that will help transform the global food system.

The Challenge:

To provide a growing global population with affordable, safe, and nutritious food for a healthy diet, while ensuring the health of our planet, requires transformative changes across the food system. This will be achieved through advances in science and technology, as well as innovative approaches and cross-cultural collaborations. Such forward-thinking solutions have the potential to reshape the way food is produced, distributed, and consumed at a global scale.

Mission:

The Seeding The Future Foundation aims to seed and support impactful initiatives that accelerate food system innovations, transforming food systems to be more nutritious, regenerative, and equitable. This mission aligns with their overarching vision to create lasting, positive change for people and the planet.

Vision:

The vision of Seeding the Future is a global food system that ensures equitable access to safe, nutritious, trusted, affordable, and appealing food for all. This system will be sustainable, resilient, and regenerative, improving the health of both people and the planet. The foundation’s moonshot goal is to positively impact the lives of one billion people by transforming global food systems for the better.

This Challenge is a call to action for innovators to help shape a future where food systems work for everyone—providing sustainable, nutritious solutions that support healthier people and a healthier planet.
