Nearly a decade ago, the HCLTech Grant was launched by the HCL Foundation to foster cross-sector collaboration and enable non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to play a pivotal role in shaping a stronger, more resilient future for India. Since its inception, the HCLTech Grant has made an extraordinary impact, investing nearly $18 million in transformative projects. Today, it stands as one of India’s largest and most impactful grant programs, reaching over 27,000 villages across 22 states and 2 Union Territories.
The HCL Foundation, which drives HCLTech’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) agenda in India, has touched the lives of more than 6.5 million people. The Foundation’s initiatives have resulted in significant environmental and community-driven outcomes, including:
- Harvesting 81 billion liters of water runoff
- Greening and managing over 72,000 acres of land
- Planting 2.82+ million saplings
- Treating and protecting 86,816 animals
Through these and other impactful initiatives, HCL Foundation has invested approximately $170 million over the past decade, making a tangible difference in communities across India.
Expanding Impact: Bringing Climate Action to the Americas
In line with its global vision and commitment to sustainable development, HCLTech is now bringing its cross-sector learnings and innovations from India to the Americas. As part of its expanded efforts in climate action, HCLTech will allocate $5 million over the next five years to support impact-focused, Americas-based nonprofits that are driving scalable and sustainable climate action projects.
This grant will fuel organizations that are working to develop replicable solutions that can be adapted across regions and communities, contributing to global climate resilience. Each year, three organizations will be selected to receive support for their one-year climate action projects:
- First place: $500,000
- Two runners-up: $250,000 each
These grants will accelerate the development of innovative solutions aimed at combating climate change, with an emphasis on sustainability, scalability, and long-term impact.
Environmental Stewardship in the Americas
HCLTech’s commitment to environmental stewardship has already been making waves across the Americas, with 100,000 native saplings planted in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. This investment in reforestation and sustainability is just one example of the Foundation’s global efforts to create positive environmental change and foster a more resilient future for all.
By extending the HCLTech Grant to the Americas, the Foundation aims to support organizations that are addressing critical environmental challenges and pioneering solutions that can be scaled to meet the growing climate crisis. Through these efforts, HCLTech is reinforcing its commitment to building a sustainable, equitable future, with a focus on the power of collaboration, innovation, and community impact.
