The Finance and Compliance Lead is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring the financial health, statutory compliance, and operational efficiency of the organisation. The role plays a critical part in strengthening financial governance, ensuring transparency, and aligning systems with donor and regulatory requirements, including HR and organisational systems.
Key Responsibilities for NGO Job in Kolkata West Bengal for Finance And Compliance Lead Apply By 14 April 2026
- Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the Executive Director and Board
- Develop long-term financial sustainability strategies
- Monitor cash flow, fund utilisation, and financial risks
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee preparation of financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Ensure timely and accurate donor reporting
- Review fund-wise accounting, utilisation certificates, and grant tracking
- Strengthen internal financial controls and audit systems
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with FCRA regulations, Income Tax Act (including 12A, 80G), and CSR guidelines
- Coordinate statutory, internal, and donor audits
- Liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities
- Develop, implement, and regularly update a comprehensive compliance framework covering all statutory, donor, and internal requirements
- Administration, HR & Operations
- Oversee administrative functions including procurement, logistics, and asset management
- Oversee and strengthen an efficient, transparent, and accountable procurement system in line with organisational and donor guidelines
- Lead and strengthen HR systems including recruitment processes, staff contracts, performance management, and policy implementation
- Ensure compliance with HR-related statutory requirements and organisational policies (leave, payroll coordination, code of conduct, POSH, etc.)
- Develop and implement administrative and HR policies and SOPs
- Ensure efficient office management and vendor oversight
- Team Leadership
- Supervise finance, HR, and administration teams
- Build staff capacity on financial systems, compliance, and HR processes
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and ethical practice
- Systems & Process Strengthening
- Implement and strengthen financial management systems (e.g., Tally Prime)
- Strengthen organisational systems across finance, HR, and administration for improved efficiency and accountability
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping
- Improve efficiency in grant management, HR systems, and reporting processes
Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) / MBA (Finance/HR) / Equivalent qualification
- 10–15 years of relevant experience, preferably in the NGO/development sector
- Strong knowledge of FCRA, CSR, donor, and HR compliance
- Proven experience in leadership and team management
