MelJol is a non-governmental organization (NGO) registered under the Societies Registrar. MelJol also has international presence through its sister concerns, namely Aflatoun International & Child Youth & Finance International with a collective presence across countries. MelJol was initiated as a field action project of Family and Child Welfare, TISS – Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai in December 1991. Since its inception MelJol has focused on fostering healthy attitudes in children, creating awareness of the different needs of child development in different backgrounds, and building spirit of confidence and entrepreneurship.
MelJol seeks to contribute in addressing the issues related to India’s URBAN and RURAL poverty by meaningfully involving children, youth, and community. The Project Coordinator will support the effective planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of MelJol’s projects focused on children and youth. The role involves close coordination with field teams, stakeholders, and internal managers to ensure timely execution of project activities in alignment with approved plans, budgets, and organizational policies.
The Project Coordinator operates under the guidance of the Regional Manager/Project Manager and plays a critical role in ensuring field-level quality, compliance, and reporting.

- Project Planning & Coordination:
- Support the development and execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual project work plans
- Coordinate day-to-day implementation of approved project activities and track progress against timelines
- Support administrative processes, including maintenance of records, approvals, and documentation
- Maintain basic project accounts and track budget utilization in coordination with the reporting manager
- Flag delays, risks, or deviations from plans and escalate appropriately
- Capacity Building & Team Support:
- Provide ongoing operational support and guidance to field facilitators and community staff
- Assist in organizing and conducting training and capacity-building sessions for project teams and stakeholders
- Coordinate logistics for trainings, workshops, meetings, and exposure visits
- Maintain records related to team performance, training participation, and field challenges
- Stakeholder Engagement & Liaison:
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with schools, government departments, community leaders, and partner organizations
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings and follow-ups in line with organizational protocols
- Represent MelJol in local forums, meetings, and networks as delegated
- Communicate stakeholder feedback and field-level insights to the project leadership
- Field Activities & Beneficiary Engagement:
- Conduct regular field visits to support planning, supervision, and quality implementation
- Facilitate or support sessions, events, and trainings for children, youth, teachers, and community members
- Coordinate community events, campaigns, and outreach activities with the field team
- Ensure inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable groups across all project interventions
- Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation:
- Collect, verify, and compile data and reports from field teams
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports as per internal and donor requirements
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, activity reports, case studies, success stories, and best practices
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation aligned with reporting calendars
- Communication & Advocacy Support:
- Share regular field updates, photographs, and content inputs for internal communication, social media, and newsletters
- Support project visibility through community-level communication initiatives
- Provide verified field insights that contribute to advocacy and awareness efforts related to child and youth development
- Resource Mobilization & Partnerships Support:
- Provide field-level inputs and data to support proposal development and reporting
- Identify and share information on potential local collaborations or in-kind support opportunities
- Support coordination of donor visits, partner engagements, and field exposure programs.
Qualifications & Experience for NGO Job in Maharashtra for Project Coordinator Apply By 31 January 2026
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Education, or a related field
(Bachelor’s degree with relevant field experience may be considered)
- 2–3 years of experience in project coordination or implementation, preferably in child/youth development, education, life skills, or financial inclusion programs
- Experience working with schools, government departments, and community-based stakeholders
- Strong documentation, communication, and coordination skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic data management tools
- Willingness to travel frequently to field locations
