Introduction: Social Worker Job in CanKids India, The National Outreach Program endeavors to bring CanKids KidsCan models for Change for Childhood Cancer to India, ensuring comprehensive and patient-centered care for children with cancer and their families throughout the country.
CanKids Hospital Support Units collaborate with childhood cancer treatment centers and hospital administrations. They provide dedicated personnel, social support services, capacity building, research promotion, and bridge any existing gaps each year. This enables families arriving at the centers to receive the highest standards of treatment, care, and support. CanKids also collaborates with state governments and other relevant stakeholders to ensure optimal Access2Care. This involves providing appropriate knowledge on where to seek help, timely diagnosis and treatment, shared care and continuity of care, awareness, access to care information, and necessary resources.
By adopting a state-by-state approach, CanKids focuses on studying the epidemiology, mapping treatment centers, and systematically establishing a network for access to care and support. Additionally, they create awareness and advocate for childhood cancer control plans, policies, and programs to state governments.
CanKids currently operates in 15 states and union territories across India. These include Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and UT Puducherry, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Delhi NCR, Punjab and UT Chandigarh (also covering Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir), Maharashtra, Goa, North East region, Gujarat and UT Daman, Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Bihar and Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.

KEY RESULT AREAS:
1. Ensure all the administrative work related to getting the new child admitted to Cankids
2. Maintaining Monthly and Quarterly Reports and Data.

5. Managing imprest for purchase of local medicines, ward requirements related to particular unit
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational:
- Responsible for handling all the work related to getting the new child admitted to CanKids. This Includes:
(a) Going to the Hospital Unit to assist in running the Chattai clinic and coordinate and implement Cankids support activities as determined for the Center.
(b) Enter details of child patients into the database from P.I.S. and M.S.F and complete all related procedures for the same.
(c) Collecting and verifying all the required documents for admitting the new entrant/child.
(d) Regularly consult with the doctor about the child’s treatment and the estimated costs for clarification purposes.
(e) Form a bridge between the doctors and the patient family and make sure the child is given the best care and benefit and spread the message ‘’you are not Alone ‘’ amongst the families and in the society.
(f) Update the database as when a child is adopted or money is donated for his treatment.
(g) Assist in completing documentation for grants from Government and other Agencies.
(h) Assist families on any other support e.g., Dharamshala/ lodging, blood etc.
(i) To provide guidance to families about health and hygiene.
(j) Facilitation of cases for Government Assistance.
Data Management and Reports:
- Maintaining the data of the particular unit assigned.
3. Assist in making a monthly/ quarterly report to the donors about the status of the child.
4. Responsible for preparing monthly reports to and in regular contact with Program Officers (Medical and Hospital Programs).
Administrative:
- Responsible for all tasks given to Parent support group members.
6. Managing visits across multiple hospitals, sites as and when required.
7. Manage import for purchase of local medicines, ward requirements related to particular units.
8. Ensure proper assistance to the pediatric Cancer unit.
9. Spreading awareness about childhood cancer through awareness and information programs.
10. Responsible for handling the unit as assigned
11. Responsible for maintaining proper coordination with the Medical Officer.
12. Administer Jiv Daya program and oversee FCRA funds use
Social Worker Job in CanKids India Educational Qualification and Experience:
Masters in Social Work
Minimum 2 Years of experience
