Key Goals
(Apply for Grants for Knowledge Management for Community-Based Severe Wasting Programs 2025 for India)
One of the central aims of this initiative is the joint development of a set of knowledge products that capture progress, spotlight best practices, and generate insights to guide future child nutrition programming. A flagship output will be a comprehensive status report showcasing state-driven capacity-building initiatives for frontline workers who play a critical role in preventing and addressing child malnutrition. This report will provide a clear picture of how states are investing in sustainable health outcomes through improved training and resource allocation.
In addition, the project will deliver a report on the key actions undertaken by UNICEF and government partners to ensure the continuity of state-level Centers of Excellence (CoEs). Another important knowledge product will focus on state-led models for managing children with Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), offering practical lessons from approaches that have shown positive results at the local level.
An in-depth case study will also be developed, documenting experiences from three states that have successfully adopted enhanced recovery strategies for children with Severe Acute Malnutrition. These approaches combine improved take-home rations with home-based food solutions, demonstrating how existing protocols can be strengthened to deliver better health outcomes.
To support robust monitoring and evaluation, the initiative will produce a best practices guide on state-specific Management Information Systems (MIS) used in growth monitoring and the Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) program. This resource will also highlight challenges in areas such as software design, field implementation, and data utilization, while suggesting practical recommendations for improvement.
At last, a dissemination strategy will be designed to ensure that all knowledge products are effectively shared with relevant stakeholders, facilitating wider learning and replication across India. Through this collaborative effort, the initiative seeks not only to strengthen current practices but also to create a more resilient, responsive, and evidence-driven framework for improving child nutrition and health across multiple states.
