Role Summary

We aim to slowly but surely build a team made up of alumni who embody our values and who represent social mobility. Getting to this point requires working with the rest of the senior leadership team to articulate our values and put them into action, including in our policies, code of conduct, performance management systems, and cultural rituals.

  2. You will be working in close association primarily with the Program teams based in Thakurganj office and eArthshala, in Bihar.

  2. Cultivate and steward a culture rooted in trust, inclusion, empathy, and accountability.
  3. Design and evolve rituals, internal communication systems, and spaces for team reflection and feedback.
  4. Build shared understanding of organizational values that span across different teams.
  5. Leadership & Team Development
  6. Facilitate leadership development across the organization through coaching, mentoring, and structured learning.
  7. Strengthen managerial capacity through targeted training and leadership circles.
  8. Partner with the Leadership Team and Program Heads to co-create individual and team development plans.
  9. Talent Management
  10. Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and retention aligned with strategic priorities.
  11. Build pipelines for diverse, mission-aligned talent through partnerships and outreach.
  12. Design and oversee onboarding processes that help new hires integrate meaningfully.
  13. Performance Management
  14. Design and facilitate performance management cycles that balance feedback, reflection, and accountability.
  15. Set up systems for 1-on-1s, OKRs/KPIs, and regular developmental check-ins.
  16. Coach managers and team leads on performance conversations and growth planning.
  17. HR Operations & Compliance
  18. Oversee HR policies and systems related to contracts, compensation, benefits, leaves, and documentation.
  19. Ensure legal and statutory compliance related to employment and workplace norms.
  20. Work closely with the Finance team to manage salaries, reimbursements, and audits.
  21. Learning, Knowledge & Systems
  22. Build and oversee the creation of organizational learning systems, including knowledge repositories, onboarding tools, and playbooks.
  23. Integrate MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) insights into people systems to continuously improve.
  24. Champion cross-team learning by creating spaces for reflection, storytelling, and practice-sharing.
  25. Conflict Resolution & Well-being
  26. Serve as a trusted resource for conflict mediation, feedback facilitation, and interpersonal challenges.
  27. Design and implement well-being practices that support emotional and mental health.
  28. Actively build and sustain a workplace that is safe, inclusive, and responsive to diverse needs.
  29. Strategic Inputs & Organizational Growth
  30. Participate in annual and multi-year strategic planning from a people-systems lens, including providing budgetary inputs.
  31. Identify emerging organizational needs and proactively build systems and structures to meet them.
  32. Collaborate with Directors of Programs, Communications, and Fundraising to align people systems with programmatic and institutional growth.

Shape and align organizational priorities across long- and short-term horizons, ensuring programs and support functions move in sync.

  6. Support recruitment, development, and retention of senior leadership teammates; serve as a role model and mentor across the organization.
Who You Are

  1. A seasoned People/OD/HR leader with 10–12 years of experience in people management, OD, or HR (preferably with time in mission-driven and/or rural contexts). Deeply aligned with the values of dignity, equity, curiosity, and service.
  2. A strong communicator, facilitator, and coach. Able to design and lead systems while staying grounded in day-to-day team realities.
  3. Experience in grassroots organizations, social enterprises, or startups with strong culture and people systems. Comfortable navigating ambiguity, change, and diverse stakeholder perspectives.
  4. Familiarity with digital tools (e.g., HRIS, project management tools, Miro, Google Workspace).
  5. Formal education in management, HR, organizational development, psychology, or related fields (optional).

Primary work location

– This role requires full-time presence in Thakurganj Block, Kishanganj District, Bihar.

Work Hours

– 8 hours per workday

Total no. of holidays a year

– As per policy

Salary Range

– 12 to 15 LPA (commensurate to the right fit for the mentioned role)

Probation Terms

– As a member of the Leadership team, you will be placed on a 5-month probation period. During this time, you will receive 87.5% of your final agreed-upon salary per month. Upon successful completion of your probationary period and a positive review, we would be pleased to offer you continued employment with Project Potential, and you will receive the remaining 12.5% of the probationary amount.

Provident Fund

– Not Applicable for this salary range

TDS and Professional Tax

– TDS and Professional tax will be computed and deducted from the salary as per the relevant laws.

Insurance

– We offer our employees the option to either opt for group insurance or claim reimbursement (under a predefined limit) against submission of a personal insurance receipt. More details can be shared at a later stage.

Out of Pocket Expenses

– All work-related food, travel, and accommodation will be reimbursed as per our policy limits.

Mess Service

– At the office premises, we have a mess service with a full-time cook and to which we individually contribute on a per plate basis. In the absence of a cook, employees may need to self-organize.

Accommodation

– When in Bihar, you will be provided with single or shared accommodation (in basic living conditions), which may be part of a larger space with other Project Potential employees.
