Who can apply for Application Open for HelpUsAdopt Grants up to $30,000 for United States?

Helpusadopt.org welcomes applications from both couples and individuals, regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, marital status, or sexual orientation. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • At least one applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
  • You must currently live in the United States (APO addresses qualify), or be paying finalization fees through a licensed U.S. agency or adoption attorney.
  • A completed home study is required.
  • You may not be undergoing infertility treatments or trying to conceive while pursuing adoption.
  • You must show significant financial challenges and a genuine need for assistance.
  • You should clearly understand the difference between not wanting to pay adoption costs and not being able to pay them.
  • You must show willingness to continue your adoption plans with or without this grant.
  • If your adoption is already finalized or the child has been placed in your home, you are no longer eligible.
  • Applicants with children may apply, though preference is given to those who do not yet have children.
How often can I apply?

You may apply every grant cycle as long as you are still in the adoption process. Each cycle requires a full re-submission of the application and all supporting documents. Because of confidentiality, declined applications are shredded after each cycle. Your basic information remains saved in the portal, but you will need to re-upload supplemental documents.

Does the type of adoption matter?

Yes. Helpusadopt.org provides funding for domestic, international, and foster care adoptions.

They do not fund embryo adoptions, step-parent adoptions, second-parent adoptions, or contested adoptions.

Can I apply if I already have children?

Yes — however, applicants without children may receive priority.

How to apply?

Families pursuing domestic adoption are encouraged to apply once their home study has been successfully completed and their profile is actively being presented to potential matches. (A completed home study is required to be eligible.)

For international adoptions, families should submit an application after a child has been matched, unless the time between the match and the final fee payments will be less than three months.

Please note that Helpusadopt.org grants are not designed to cover initial adoption costs. These grants are intended to help families finalize their adoption so they can bring their child home. Funds are paid directly to approved adoption service providers. We are unable to reimburse expenses that have already been paid, including those paid by credit card or loan.
