Bruce and Jane Walsh Grant in Memory of John Holland 2026 Apply Now

Bruce and Jane Walsh Grant in Memory of John Holland 2026 Apply Now, The Bruce and Jane Walsh Grant in Memory of John Holland supports innovative scientific, scholarly, and applied research — as well as educational initiatives — that explore how personality, culture, and environmental factors shape work behavior and overall health (both mental and physical).

Priority is given to early-career psychologists who are within 10 years of completing their doctorate. The grant particularly encourages pilot studies that could later attract larger funding from federal agencies or foundations, as well as demonstration projects that can be replicated in different regions or organizational settings.

This grant honors the legacy of John Holland, a distinguished vocational and personality psychologist whose work transformed vocational psychology. Holland’s Theory of Vocational Choice led to the development of the Holland Codes (also known as RIASEC), which propose that career choices are closely linked to personality types. The six codes — Realistic (doers), Investigative (thinkers), Artistic (creators), Social (helpers), Enterprising (persuaders), and Conventional (organizers) — help explain why individuals thrive in certain work environments.

Through this grant, Bruce and Jane Walsh continue Holland’s legacy by supporting graduate students and early-career psychologists whose research deepens our understanding of how personality, culture, and environment influence work behavior and well-being.

Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the full details and submit their applications before the specified deadline to seize this grant opportunity.
