Daiwa Foundation Small Grants 2026 for United Kingdom and Japan Applications are now open, Grants ranging from £2,000 to £9,000 are offered to individuals, societies, associations, and other organizations in the UK and Japan to encourage and strengthen collaboration between the two countries.
Due to limited funding and the aim to support a larger number of applicants, most successful Small Grant recipients are typically awarded between £3,000 and £4,000. These grants are generally provided as a partial contribution toward the overall project cost rather than covering the full budget.
Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the full details and submit their applications before the specified deadline to seize this grant opportunity.

Eligible Projects for Daiwa Foundation Small Grants 2026 for United Kingdom and Japan Applications are now open
Daiwa Foundation Small Grants support a wide range of activities aimed at strengthening UK–Japan relations. These include educational and grassroots exchange initiatives, research visits, conferences, exhibitions, and other events or projects aligned with this objective.
The Foundation particularly welcomes new and innovative initiatives. However, ongoing or regularly held events are less likely to receive funding unless there is a compelling justification or they mark a special occasion.
Ineligible Projects and Costs for Daiwa Foundation Small Grants 2026 for United Kingdom and Japan Applications are now open
The grants cannot be used for the following:
- General fundraising appeals
• Capital expenses (such as building renovations or purchasing equipment)
• Consumable items (e.g., stationery or scientific materials)
• Tuition fees for schools, colleges, or universities
• Research or study undertaken by individual students
• Salaries or professional service fees
• Art commissions
• Retrospective funding (for projects already completed)
• Replacement of statutory funding
• Commercial or profit-driven activities

If applying from Japan, please use the Daiwa Foundation Small Grants 奨励助成申請 application form.
Those applying from the UK must use the Daiwa Foundation Small Grants application form.
There are two application deadlines each year, 31 March (for a decision by 31 May) and 30 September (for a decision by 30 November). The Foundation is also happy to provide advice about possible applications – please contact grants@dajf.org.uk.
