2026 Submission Open for Small Grants Program Australia, The grants programme aims to encourage more families to experience the benefits of play and build connections with children and families in their communities while celebrating the rights of all children.
The primary objective of the 2026 grants programme is to increase the number, diversity, and accessibility of Children’s Week activities across Tasmania.
In 2026, a total of 10 grants valued at AUD 1,000 each will be available. A strong emphasis will be placed on accessibility to ensure that more families can participate in Children’s Week events throughout Tasmania.
Accessibility includes physical, geographic, financial, developmental, and literacy-related access. Examples of accessible initiatives may include organising events in remote communities, providing free transport, and using simple language, visual aids, or translated materials to support people with varying literacy levels and backgrounds.

Who can apply for a 2026 Submission Open for Small Grants Program Australia?
The following groups can apply:
Community Playgroups – Parent & Volunteer Led that are members of Playgroup Tasmania
Community playgroups – Organisation Led that are members of Playgroup Tasmania
Not-for profit-organisations or community groups
Playgroup Tasmania encourages organisations representing diverse community groups to apply.
Applicants must be:
an organisation that delivers community support, services and/or programs to Tasmanians
a Tasmanian organisation, and
be incorporated organisations, or a community playgroup.
Your activity must support the following objectives and highlight the theme of Children’s Week 2026:
- Increase the number of Children’s Week activities.
- Increase the accessibility of Children’s Week activities.
- Increase the diversity of Children’s Week activities.
What Will Not Be Funded
Funding will not be provided for:
- Staff wages, unless they relate to additional hours specifically required for the Children’s Week project
- Building construction, refurbishment, or maintenance activities
- Fundraising initiatives
- Projects that require ongoing funding support
- Ongoing commercial activities
- Closed events that are not open to the general public
Priority will be given to smaller organisations that rely on grant funding to deliver their Children’s Week activities and community programmes.

Application Process
Applications must be submitted online through the SmartyGrants platform using the SmartyGrants application form.
Support is available for applicants who are not familiar with using SmartyGrants or require assistance with the application process.
