Application Open for Hindu Kush Himalaya Arctic Youth Leadership Forum by ICIMOD Fully Funded, The Earth’s cryosphere — its frozen water reserves — is vanishing at an alarming pace, reshaping life in two of the world’s most climate-sensitive regions: the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) and the Arctic. While the HKH is warming at twice the global rate, the Arctic faces even more dramatic change, heating nearly four times faster. At the core of this unfolding crisis are the region’s young people — not just witnesses to the impact on their homes, cultures, and futures, but active custodians of ecological wisdom, guardians of biodiversity, and vital architects of climate resilience.
To empower and unite these young leaders, ICIMOD and Arctic Circle have launched the HKH–Arctic Youth Leadership Forum — a platform to foster solidarity and amplify youth voices from both regions in shaping inclusive, community-rooted climate solutions.
Through a one-year fellowship, 12 youth champions (aged 19–35) will be equipped with the knowledge, leadership skills, and global networks they need to drive change from the frontlines — ensuring that the voices of mountain and Arctic communities are heard where it matters most.
Interested candidates are encouraged to carefully review the fellowship opportunity and submit their applications before the specified deadline.
