Participants in the In Tandem Youth Voice Fellowship will have the opportunity to contribute to real-world projects while developing valuable research, design, and collaboration skills.

Develop Design Thinking Skills

Connect with Other Young People

Build connections with fellow Youth Partners and Peer Mentors through exclusive virtual events, networking opportunities, and professional development sessions.

Interact with experienced product designers, researchers, and industry professionals to gain practical insights into how research and youth perspectives influence real-world product development.

Youth Partners

As an In Tandem Youth Partner, participants can share their perspectives by taking part in research projects conducted with partner organisations. They will also have opportunities to connect with other Youth Partners from across the United States through interactive virtual events and activities.

Peer Mentors

Experienced Youth Partners may have the opportunity to become Peer Mentors, supporting new participants and helping facilitate group activities. Along with their regular Youth Partner projects, Peer Mentors participate in quarterly programme events focused on sharing experiences, reflecting on their work, and developing new skills.

Virtual Summer Orientation

The Fellowship begins with a one-week virtual summer orientation designed to introduce participants to key concepts and methods used throughout the programme.

During the orientation, participants will:

  • Learn about behavioural science and user-centred design.
  • Explore research methods used when working with teenagers.
  • Develop an understanding of design thinking and the scientific method.
  • Learn how to provide meaningful and constructive feedback.
  • Meet fellow participants and members of the In Tandem team.

Tandem Youth Voice Fellowship 2026-2027 for United States of America Based High School Who Can Apply?

The Youth Voice Fellowship is open to US-based high school students who will enter 9th or 10th grade during the 2026–27 school year.

The application takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

There are no traditional academic or extracurricular requirements. Applicants do not need to meet a specific GPA threshold, have extensive extracurricular involvement, or possess previous professional or work experience.

The programme is designed to provide opportunities to students based on their perspectives and potential rather than their prior experience.

For young people who do not have reliable access to technology, a computer and/or internet access will be provided to enable participation in the Fellowship.
