Introduction: Application Invited for 2025 Matra Societal Transformation Grants Program for Turkey, The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Consulate General in Istanbul invite Turkish civil society organizations, non-profit educational institutions, semi-governmental bodies, and municipalities to submit fresh proposals under the Matra Societal Transformation Programme. This initiative offers support to impactful projects aligned with societal transformation and democratic development goals.

MATRA works with country specific priority areas. Priority areas for Türkiye are identified within the overall framework of rule of law.

In Türkiye, the Embassy and CG will give priority to proposals that contribute to Access to justice for all.

When applying to the Matra Programme, applicants should carefully consider the following financial guidelines:

• Project budgets must range between €25,000 and €50,000, and all budget documents should be prepared in Euros.
• The maximum duration for each project is 12 months

Eligibility Criteria (Application Invited for 2025 Matra Societal Transformation Grants Program for Turkey)

• The MATRA Social Transformation Programme is open for applications by local and international NGOs, non-profit educational institutions, semi-governmental organizations and municipalities in Türkiye.
• Twinning with Dutch organizations and with partners from other countries is allowed, but not a requirement.

Ineligibility Criteria (Application Invited for 2025 Matra Societal Transformation Grants Program for Turkey)

Ineligibility Criteria includes:

• Projects repeating identical previous projects, or proposals that come down to funding ongoing activities/projects;
• Commercial activities;
• Projects with a predominantly academic focus, i.e. research;
• Projects that largely or exclusively involve the delivery of goods or materials;
• Infrastructural or construction projects;
• Bursaries or education programmes;
• Humanitarian aid;
• Feasibility studies and other research;
• Vehicles etc.

How to Apply?

Application procedure

Stage I

Applicants are asked to send a video presentation of their project idea of no more than 3 minutes, in which they address:

• what the problem/issue is,
• how the project will address the challenge at hand,
• what makes the project unique, and
• what is the expected impact of the project in concrete terms.
• Start the video by stating the organization’s name, project title, duration and a rough budget estimate. The presentation should be in English or provided with English subtitles.

NB video presentations that do not meet the criteria will be excluded.

Stage II

After the selection of the video’s, shortlisted applicants will be asked to submit a full project proposal in English, using the application forms in the links below. No rights can be derived from such a request and the ensuing comprehensive project proposal will be assessed accordingly.
