Introduction: Application Open for Nextgen Peacemakers Grants 2025, The European Commission is now accepting applications for the NextGen Peacemakers Programme, aimed at enhancing sustainable, in-country capabilities for efficient conflict resolution and peace building. Organizations interested in applying should carefully review the details and, if eligible, submit their applications before the deadline on April 24, 2025.

Last Date of Submission: 24th April 2025

Grants Range: EUR 4 000 000.

Objectives and Priority Issues (Application Open for Nextgen Peacemakers Grants 2025)

The specific objective of this call for proposal is to empower civil society actors, in particular young women and men, to act as agents for positive change and peace in their communities and in the public arena.

The priorities of this call for proposals are:

For Lot 1 (Guinea-Bissau) and Lot 4 (The Gambia) – Empowering young women and men as agents for positive change and peace: empowering inclusive and progressive local actors and initiatives for peace, reconciliation and/or social cohesion, in particular those representing or involving young women and men, also by promoting inspiring practices and narratives through different new and innovative channels.

For Lot 2 (Liberia) – Strengthening the Youth Peace and Security agenda in Liberia: creating an inclusive and enabling environment in which young women and men safely and meaningfully participate in matters related to peace and security and/or in transitional justice processes. It is considered an added value to address both aspects.

For Lot 3 (Sierra Leone) – Fostering peaceful youth participation in more responsible and inclusive information systems: fostering the integrity of information systems at the grassroots level, also by educating young people on how to identify and counter information manipulation and violence incitement, and by encouraging youth participation in both traditional and new innovative spaces for dialogue and public debates.

Funding Information and Project Duration (Application Open for Nextgen Peacemakers Grants 2025)

A total indicative budget of EUR 4,000,000 has been allocated for this call for proposals. However, the contracting authority retains the discretion to withhold the full disbursement of funds.

Indicative Fund Allocation by Lot/Geographical Distribution:

  • Lot 1 (Guinea-Bissau): EUR 1,000,000
  • Lot 2 (Liberia): EUR 1,000,000
  • Lot 3 (Sierra Leone): EUR 1,000,000
  • Lot 4 (The Gambia): EUR 1,000,000

Grant Size:

Eligible grants under this call must strictly fall within the range of:

  • Minimum: EUR 1,000,000
  • Maximum: EUR 1,000,000

Project Duration:

The proposed initiatives must have duration of no less than 24 months and should not exceed 36 months.

Eligibility Criteria (Application Open for Nextgen Peacemakers Grants 2025)

In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:

  • be a legal person and
  • be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation13 or public sector operator, and
  • be effectively established in a Member State of the European Union or other eligible countries asstipulated in the basic act NDICI-GE1415, and where relevant, have the authorization to operate in the selected country according to national laws, and
  • be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary, and
  • have a minimum of three years documented experience implementing projects in relation to the specific priorities for the selected lot, in the country or in the sub-region (Coastal West Africa),
  • The lead applicant must act with co-applicant(s) as specified hereafter.
  • If the lead applicant is not established in the country where the action will be implemented, at least one organization established in the country must be a co-applicant to the action.
