Call for Proposals: Harnessing the Potential of Northeastern Mushrooms by Department for Biotechnology Ministry of Science and Technology Government of India

Call for Proposals: Harnessing the Potential of Northeastern Mushrooms by Department for Biotechnology Ministry of Science and Technology Government of India, The North Eastern Region (NER) of India is endowed with a remarkable diversity of mushrooms that hold significant cultural, culinary, medicinal, and economic importance. Traditionally valued for food and healing practices, these mushrooms also present emerging opportunities in biotechnology, nutraceuticals, and sustainable livelihood development. Mushroom cultivation offers a sustainable and low-input solution to several challenges faced by rural farmers, enabling income generation, employment creation, and agricultural diversification. Owing to these benefits, mushroom cultivation can play a vital role in the socio-economic development of the North East, contributing to more resilient and prosperous rural communities.

In recognition of this potential, the call for proposals seeks innovative Research and Development initiatives focused on the North Eastern Region of India. The objective is to strengthen and advance scientific cultivation practices and promote the development of value-added mushroom-based products. Through this initiative, the program aims to position Northeastern mushrooms as a driver of scientific innovation, economic empowerment, and global recognition.

Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the full details and submit their applications before the specified deadline to seize this grant opportunity.
