Grants Available through Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abuja Open Call for Proposals for Local Transformation Projects 2026 Nigeria, The Czech Republic recognizes the importance of strengthening civil society as a way to advance democracy, uphold the rule of law, and protect human rights. In line with this commitment, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nigeria has announced a call for proposals for Local Transformation Projects within its accredited countries.
Democracy, human rights, and the rule of law are interconnected principles that form the foundation of human dignity. Supporting and implementing these values remains a key priority of Czech foreign policy. As part of this mission, the Czech Republic actively promotes democratic transitions around the world and shares its own experience in social transformation and democratic development. This call for Local Transformation Projects is anchored in the Human Rights and Transition Promotion Policy Concept of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the full details and submit their applications before the specified deadline to seize this grant opportunity.
Last Date of Submission: 30th November 2025
The project must relate to one of the TRANS priority areas:

- civil society, including human rights defenders;
- freedom of expression and access to information, including media freedom;
- equal political and public participation;
- building rule of law institutions;
- equality and non-discrimination;
- protection of human rights in employment and environmental issues.
The aim of the project is to promote human rights and democracy in a specific area or for a specific group, not for development activities. The purchase of equipment may be included in a project because it is necessary to achieve the project’s objectives, but it must not be the main objective of the project. The Government of the Czech Republic contributes to each approved project an amount ranging from 100,000 – 500,000,- CZK depending on the scope of the project.
Basic conditions for participation in a Local Transformation Project:

- only local non-governmental non-profit organisations may submit an application.
- sustainability of the transformation project
- properly completed and on-time submitted identification form
- the budget must not exceed 500,000,- CZK
- the current exchange rate of the Embassy of the Czech Republic
- the maximum duration of the project is 8 months – from 1 March 2026 to 31 October 2026

Only serious applicants are kindly requested to carefully read and fill in the enclosed identification form properly and send it to the following email: Abuja.Commerce@mzv.gov.cz (subject: Local Transition Project 2026) no later than 30 November 2025, 4 pm.
