The Mobilize Power Fund was created based on the belief that strong and effective movements need flexible and responsive funding to address immediate threats, unexpected challenges, and emerging opportunities while also supporting healing and recovery.
The first iteration of the Mobilize Power Fund was launched in 2016 to support organizers responding to HB2, the transphobic “Bathroom Bill” proposed in North Carolina.

This includes young women of color, trans, queer, intersex, and gender non-conforming youth, as well as people of color under the age of 35. There should also be a clear alignment between leadership, governance structures, and the communities being served.
Gender Justice
The organization’s political analysis should demonstrate how the issue or issues being addressed are connected to patriarchy, transphobia, homophobia, gender inequity, or gender-based violence.
Rapid Response
The organization or group must be responding to a specific incident or change in circumstances that occurred within the last six months. The situation should require the group to significantly shift or pivot from its ongoing and regularly planned work.
Community Power Building
The proposed strategies and activities should strengthen the organizing and movement-building power of the communities involved. These activities should also directly contribute to achieving the overall goals outlined in the proposal.
Organizational Need
Organizations must have an annual budget of less than $500,000 to be eligible for a Mobilize Power Fund grant.
The fund also gives priority to groups and organizations located in areas with limited access to philanthropic resources, as well as those that do not have access to 501c3 status or fiscal sponsorship.
When will applicants hear back?
Applicants are generally notified within four to six weeks after the monthly review deadline. They will be informed whether their proposal has been recommended for funding, not recommended for funding, or requires additional follow-up information.
