Mission Samriddhi is in a growth phase, with a strong focus on improving education in rural India, particularly at the primary and middle school levels. While the Central and State Governments have introduced several schemes and infrastructure initiatives, significant gaps remain. Our goal is not to replace government efforts but to supplement them meaningfully by providing reading facilities, strengthening teaching capabilities, and empowering Panchayats and local governance to drive sustainable change.

The Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in implementing educational interventions in Assam state especially in Goalpara, Marigaon & Bongaigaon. You will work closely with partner NGOs, schools, volunteers, and the Ullas Trust team to deliver programs such as Ullas Libraries, Ullas Science Learning Program, CAN DO Workshops, and SUMMIT sessions. The role demands strong stakeholder management, program coordination, and field engagement skills, along with a genuine commitment to empowering young learners.

This position also requires regular field visits to monitor progress, interact with ground staff, teachers, and students, and ensure the best possible outcomes. The incumbent will report to the Program Manager– North East/Associate Director – Education and collaborate closely with the Mission Samriddhi and Ullas Trust teams to align strategies and drive impactful results.

Salary would not be a major constraint for the right candidate, but we are looking at a ballpark figure in the range of Rs. 35,000 – Rs. 40,000 per month.

Primary Responsibilities:

As an Education Coordinator, you will work closely with the Program Manager – North East&Associate Director – Education to oversee, manage, and strengthen the educational initiatives of Mission Samriddhi. You will be responsible for monitoring program progress, providing feedback, and recommending course corrections to ensure alignment with our overall strategy. Since education is an integral part of our Community Development Framework, you will also collaborate with other teams managing livelihood, personal development, and governance initiatives to deliver holistic impact.Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1) Program Implementation

  • Lead and coordinate educational programs across Assam in collaboration with partner organizations.
  • Drive the Ullas Library intervention – manage procurement of books and racks, oversee library operations, maintain registers, conduct Reading Level Assessments (RLA), analyze data, and facilitate team training.
  • Implement the Ullas Science Learning Program – manage procurement and distribution of science kits, conduct teacher training, and track program outcomes.Organize and conduct CAN DO Workshops at schools and partner locations; coordinate with the Ullas Secretariat for learning materials and collaterals.
  • Facilitate and support the delivery of SUMMIT sessions by training partners and school teams where required.
  • Ensure continuous communication with schools and stakeholders to gather success stories, case studies, and best practices.
  • Undertake additional assignments or tasks as needed.

2) Capacity Building & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify, train, and engage volunteers to ensure program scalability and sustainability.
  • Act as the single point of contact for all educational initiatives in Assam.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with schools, teachers, volunteers, and partner organizations to enhance program impact.
  • 3) Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in prescribed formats.
  • Ensure timely data collection, entry, and analysis to monitor program effectiveness.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports and participate in regular review meetings.

4) Operational Support

  • Coordinate with the Ullas Secretariat for procurement, inventory management, and distribution of educational materials.
  • Ensure consistency, alignment, and standardization of program processes across locations.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Rural Development, or Education.
  • Minimum 2 years in the education sector, preferably working with teachers and students in rural India. Proven experience in implementing educational interventions with sound pedagogy for joyful learning, particularly in science and reading. Hands-on expertise in facilitating science learning through demonstrations and conducting reading assessments.
  • Self-starter with strong empathy, integrity, curiosity and a professional “Can-Do” attitude.
  • Strong communication skills, consultative approach, and ability to collaborate with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work independently, take decisions, and manage activities with diligence.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet timelines while maintaining quality.
  • Strong commitment, maturity, and ability to engage effectively with children.
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time.
  • Proficient in Assamese, with working knowledge of Hindi and English.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
