Program description (NGO Job Opportunity for Male Field Officer in Mumbai Maharashtra Last Date 30 June 2025)

  • The Family Development Program supports the most vulnerable families living in slums, through psychosocial counselling during Home Visits. The program’s main anchors are to fight against domestic violence and women’s empowerment.
  • To achieve this goal, social workers visit selected families once per week for 6 months. During those visits the social workers counsel, inform and raise awareness to the beneficiaries on basic socio-economic topics such as education, health, legal documents, psychosocial issues (i.e., domestic violence, child abuse, addictions, etc.), employment/improving one’s income, etc…
  • We support the family members to build their self-confidence and we refer them to the relevant local public services (or private or NGO services) based on their needs, so they can improve their socio-economic conditions.
  • Additionally, the teams conduct Awareness Meetings to provide group sensitization and discussion opportunities, run a Guidance Centre open to all members of the local communities, that provides case by-case information and referrals and conduct adolescent and women’s groups.
  • The male field officer will be responsible of supporting the coordinator in implementing the program and managing 2 teams. The male field officer will work half of the time with one team in Appa Pada and the other half in Gautam Nagar.
  • Position Summary: To provide support in all program activities (homevisits, handling challenging cases, awareness meetings, guidance center, adolescent groups amongst others) mostly with male family members and, based on the teams’ needs, with other members.

1 Routine field activities with Social Workers

? Ensure that routine field activities take place as monthly planning

? Implement routine field activities in absence of coordinator or supervisor

2 Routine office activities

? Participate in observation and phase out family meetings as per the team’s request

? Assist the team by creating plans during observation and phase out family meetings for further interventions with the families

? Identify opportunities to work with male members in the families

? Provide feedback to team members

3 Support visits

? Conduct support visits, particularly, in cases when the interaction with men in the families is necessary

? Carry out support visits when dealing with Domestic violence, addictions, and as per the social workers discretion

? Counsel men and young boys

4 Awareness meetings

? Perform and support awareness meetings on challenging topics

? Support coordinator in drafting modules for awareness meetings based on the needs of the target groups

? Support coordinator in identifying tools for the same as short films for discussions and flip charts etc.

? Conduct awareness meetings with men and young boys.

5 Guidance center

? Support the creation of strategies to raise the demand for Guidance Center

? Handle mobile Guidance Center

? Create awareness of the Guidance Center specially for youth

? Encourage youth to visit Guidance Center and provide support according to the needs

6 Adolescent groups

? Conduct sessions for boys’ adolescent groups and mobilize the participants

7 Networking

? Support coordinator in assessing the community needs and identifying, creating, and visiting new service providers accordingly

? Network with services to cater to the youth in the community

8 Capacity building

? Identify training needs

? Support the coordinator in designing and conducting trainings

9 Reporting

? Support the coordinator in the preparation of quarter reports

10 Accounting

? Take care of the monthly purchases

? Supervise that vouchers are done correctly

? Ensure that vouchers and invoices meet accounting guidelines

Work Experience: Minimum 3 years in social field

Education: Graduation preferably in social sciences.

Competencies & skill required: Good Communication verbal & written (Hindi and Marathi), good counselling skill, basic computer, analytical skill, leadership, presentation skill, knowledge about Indian women situation.

Interests: Strong interest to work with vulnerable families living in slums, for women’s empowerment and eradication of domestic violence.

Preference will be given to candidates based in Mumbai or those willing to relocate at their own expense.
