Application Open 2026-27 Asia Health Policy Program Postdoctoral Fellowship, The Asia Health Policy Program (AHPP) at the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (Shorenstein APARC) is dedicated to advancing comparative research on health and health policy across the Asia-Pacific region. Since its inception, the program has focused on nurturing the next generation of scholars in Asia health policy. Each year, AHPP offers a postdoctoral fellowship to an outstanding recent doctoral graduate.
The selected postdoctoral fellow will engage in the program’s academic activities while conducting independent research on contemporary health or healthcare policy issues of significant relevance to low- and middle-income countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Applications are welcome from candidates employing evidence-based approaches to health policy within diverse academic disciplines, including public policy, public health, economics, demography, sociology, political science, anthropology, law, medicine, and health services research, among others.
Appointments begin in the fall quarter of the academic year. Eligibility is limited to candidates who have earned their Ph.D. within the past three years (or M.D. within the past six years) at the time the fellowship begins. Degree conferral and institutional approval must be completed by June 30 prior to the fellowship start date (i.e., by June 30, 2026, for the 2026–27 academic year).
The 2026–2027 AHPP Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to remain in residence for the full term of the appointment, present research findings at Center seminars, and contribute to the Center’s publication initiatives. The fellowship offers a minimum 10-month appointment with compensation in line with Stanford University policy, based on an annual rate of $80,000 (prorated for 10 months), along with an additional $3,000 for research expenses.
Interested candidates are encouraged to carefully review the details and submit their applications before the specified deadline.
