About Call for Applications for Carl Menger Fellowship 2026-2027 offered by Mercatus Center at George Mason University
The Carl Menger Fellowship is a one-year, highly competitive, online fellowship programme open to PhD students from any university and academic discipline, including—though not limited to—economics, philosophy, political science, and sociology.
The fellowship is designed to expose doctoral students to influential thinkers and traditions in political economy that may not be part of their regular graduate curriculum, while encouraging critical engagement and rigorous discussion. Throughout the fellowship year, Carl Menger Fellows convene nine times for online seminar-style discussions focused on the Austrian, Virginia, and Bloomington schools of political economy.
In addition to structured learning, fellows become part of a vibrant Mercatus network of students, alumni, and scholars, gaining opportunities to connect with peers and researchers engaged in cutting-edge work in contemporary political economy.
