Sondara Gurukul Fellowship 2026 Cohort 2 India Applications are now open, Sondara Gurukul is a residential school located in Domri Village, District Beed, in rural Maharashtra, dedicated to holistic education since 1986. Around 240 children live and study on its campus. The Gurukul fosters an environment where students gain not only academic knowledge but also develop values, a sense of community, and responsibility. Daily life on campus includes sports, farming, group discussions, prayer, and shared responsibilities. Teachers and students live together, creating a close-knit and collaborative learning community.

About the Fellowship for Sondara Gurukul Fellowship 2026 Cohort 2 India Applications are now open

The Sondara Gurukul Fellowship is a 2-year immersive residential program for young people who want to explore education, work with children, and understand rural India. The fellowship is not just a job. It is a learning journey where fellows live on campus, work with the school community, and go through their own process of learning and reflection. The first phase focuses more on understanding education, children, and the Gurukul way of life. Later, fellows take more responsibility in specific areas and projects.

We are looking for people who:

  • Are curious about education and society
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Are you willing to live in a rural residential campus
  • Are open to learning, reflection, and feedback
  • Can take responsibility and work with others
  • Previous experience in education is not necessary, but a genuine interest is important.

Basic Eligibility:

  • Graduate/Post Graduate in any stream (Education/ D.Ed./ B.Ed/ Social work/ development studies preferred)
  • Experience in teaching and community-based organizations will be preferred
  • Willing to commit full-time for 2 years
  • Comfortable with simple residential community life
  • Computer proficiency – MS Office, Excel, online communication, etc

Fellowship Support for Sondara Gurukul Fellowship 2026 Cohort 2 India Applications are now open

  • Fellowship stipend: (Monthly)15,000 to 20,000. ( variable based on your experience)
  • Accommodation on campus is available
  • Learning and mentorship support

Role of Fellow

  • Working with Children
  • Learning the basics of pedagogy and supporting classroom activities
  • Facilitating sports, games, or creative activities
  • Mentoring small groups of students
  • Spending informal time with children, teachers, and fellows
  • Library activities, Environmental or farm activities
  • Community and parents’ engagement
  • Encouraged to take initiative and develop small projects during the fellowship.
  • Learning and Development
  • Reading and discussions on education and society
  • Mentorship from experienced educators
  • Reflection sessions, Exposure visits, Understanding rural community life
  • Working closely with children in a residential setting
