Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the full details and submit their applications before the specified deadline to seize this grant opportunity.

Grant Information for Apply Now for Thrive Grant Opportunity 2026

The Thrive Grant provides funding between $10,000 and $30,000 USD to support impactful initiatives. It is primarily designed for mid-sized and larger organizations that have a proven track record of success. At present, funding is limited to applicants based outside the United States, with many grants typically awarded to organizations that have previously received support.

Applications are accepted on a rolling cycle, with deadlines set at 11:59 PM GMT on:

  • March 1
  • June 1
  • September 1
  • December 1

Applicants can expect a response within approximately 8 weeks after each deadline. Due to limited funding, not all applications will be successful.

Submissions must be completed through the official online application form, as emailed proposals are not accepted. Organizations that are awarded funding are generally eligible for one grant per year.

Equity is a core priority of the Thrive Grant. Applications led by, or actively involving, women, people of color, and other marginalized communities are strongly encouraged.

Special Note for Africa-Based Applicants:

Due to a high number of proposals coming from Africa, if you’re based in Africa and would like to apply for a Thrive Grant and haven’t received a grant from Thrive in the past, we invite you to first join the Thrive Africa Accelerator HERE. Within the accelerator you’ll get to join a cohort of like-minded advocates across Africa and Thrive will get to know more about your work before you apply. Furthermore, due to high demand from the African continent, Africa-based groups that haven’t received a grant from Thrive in the past are more likely to be accepted for a Seed Grant.

 

Eligibility Criteria for Apply Now for Thrive Grant Opportunity 2026

To qualify for the Thrive Grant, proposals should:

  • Focus on advancing alternatives to industrial animal agriculture, promoting plant-forward food systems, or improving access to and awareness of nutritious plant-based foods
  • Adhere to Thrive Philanthropy’s safe space policy
  • Be based outside the United States and not operate as an international branch of a U.S.-based organization
  • Demonstrate a strong, positive reputation among stakeholders and within the community, contributing to Thrive Philanthropy’s credibility
  • Be submitted by non-profit entities (for-profit organizations are not eligible)
  • Typically come from organizations (individual applicants should consider the Seed Grant instead)
  • Ideally have an annual budget under $500,000 USD, as smaller organizations are currently prioritized

Ineligible Projects for Apply Now for Thrive Grant Opportunity 2026

The following types of proposals are not considered for funding:

  • Initiatives that support, benefit from, or remain neutral toward animal exploitation
  • Projects related to cellular agriculture
  • Programs that provide food assistance to military or police entities
  • For-profit ventures, including restaurants and commercial businesses
  • Food banks, meal distribution programs, or hunger-relief activities
  • Campaigns focused on farmed animal welfare
  • Activities involving animal farming or any use of animals
  • Projects that incorporate animal-derived products (such as meat, dairy, leather, etc.)
  • Political campaigns, parties, or candidate endorsements
  • Educational expenses such as tuition, academic research, or university fees
  • Projects operating within the United States or affiliated with U.S.-based organizations
  • Chapters of large international organizations
