Opportunity Fund Invites Application 2026 for Grants for Arts Social and Economic Justice United States of America, The Opportunity Fund provides grant support to small and mid-sized arts organizations, as well as initiatives and groups working to promote social and economic justice.
More than 75% of the fund’s grants are directed toward projects and programs that positively impact the Greater Pittsburgh community.

Performing & Visual Arts
The program supports Performing and Visual Arts initiatives, particularly those led by small- and mid-sized arts organizations. Priority areas include:
- Theatre
- Dance
- Classical chamber music
- Jazz music
- Craft and artistic practices
Social & Economic Justice
Funding is also available for projects focused on Social and Economic Justice, especially initiatives connected to racial justice and community empowerment. Supported areas include:
- Black-led movement and advocacy work
- Civil liberties
- Civil rights initiatives, with particular emphasis on Black and LGBTQ+ communities and other marginalized groups affected by social injustice
- Human rights
- Reproductive freedom
- Social service programs
- Economic independence and empowerment
- Housing support
- Tangible community aid
- Transportation assistance
- Healthcare access
- Other essential safety-net resources
How to apply?
The Opportunity Fund manages its entire grant application process through an online application system and does not accept mailed letters or paper-based submissions. Applicants also have the option to submit a short video of approximately 2–3 minutes in place of the written narrative section of the Initial Application.
Deadlines
The Opportunity Fund conducts proposal reviews twice each year through community review panels and board member evaluations.
Cycle 2: Initial Application opens May 1 is due by July 15, 2026.
If invited, a Full Application is due September 4 for award notification in October.

Two-Step Application Process
The Opportunity Fund follows a two-stage application process, and both stages must be completed through the online grant portal.
- Step 1: Applicants must first submit an Initial Application.
- Step 2: Organizations shortlisted from the initial stage will be invited to submit a more detailed Full Application.
