CBPS Research Fellowship Opportunity Applications open for 2026-27 by Centre for Budget and Policy Studies, Launched in 2023 as part of CBPS’ 25th anniversary celebrations, the research fellowship offers an excellent opportunity for young scholars to engage in in-depth research across important thematic areas such as education, gender, governance, health and nutrition, public finance, livelihoods, and social security.
Through the fellowship, selected scholars work closely with the institute’s research team in a collaborative and academically enriching environment. Fellows gain valuable exposure through seminars, workshops, in-house lectures, public discussions, and ongoing research activities. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, participants also get the opportunity to contribute to active research projects aligned with their interests and academic goals.
The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of ₹25,000 along with access to office space, internet facilities, and library resources. However, the programme does not cover housing, transportation, or other additional financial expenses.

Who Should Apply for CBPS Research Fellowship Opportunity Applications open for 2026-27 by Centre for Budget and Policy Studies?
The fellowship is mainly intended for young scholars who have recently completed their Bachelor’s degree or are currently in the final year of their undergraduate studies. Centre for Budget and Policy Studies particularly encourages applications from historically underrepresented communities, including individuals marginalized on the basis of class, caste, gender, religion, linguistic background, or first-generation learner status.
Applicants from diverse academic disciplines and methodological backgrounds are welcome to apply.

- A Statement of Purpose (SoP) explaining their interest in research related to the fellowship themes such as education, governance, gender, health, livelihoods, public finance, and social security (maximum 1500 words).
