What is the Purpose of the Open Call Chatterjee National CSR Fellowship Opportunity 2026 by La-SIYA Socio-Economic Care Foundation?

 

The Chatterjee National CSR Fellowship has been established under the guidance of Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee to encourage high-quality research, innovation, and thought leadership in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

As CSR in India continues to expand in terms of scale, investment, and strategic importance, the fellowship aims to support evidence-based research that can strengthen responsible business practices, sustainable development, and measurable social impact. Since the implementation of the Companies Act, 2013, CSR expenditure in India has steadily increased, reaching nearly ₹36,000 crore by the end of the financial year 2023–24. This figure is projected to grow to approximately ₹60,000 crore over the next five years, highlighting the increasing role of CSR in India’s development landscape.

The fellowship recognizes the growing shift from traditional philanthropy to strategic and impact-driven CSR initiatives. It seeks to nurture practitioners and researchers who can critically examine CSR frameworks, sustainability indicators, policy implications, and community-level impact while contributing meaningful insights to India’s evolving CSR ecosystem.

La-SIYA Socio-Economic Care Foundation has been appointed as the nodal partner for implementing the fellowship programme. The organization will be responsible for managing application fees, disbursing expenses, remitting fellowship funds, assisting in candidate selection, and developing procedural guidelines for the fellowship’s implementation.

Who Can Apply for Open Call Chatterjee National CSR Fellowship Opportunity 2026 by La-SIYA Socio-Economic Care Foundation?

 

The fellowship is open to:

  • CSR practitioners and former practitioners
  • Research scholars and academicians
  • Former academicians
  • Professionals working in Corporate Social Responsibility and related sectors

The term “practitioners” includes professionals associated with CSR divisions in private and public sector organizations, foundations, NGOs, civil society organizations, and social enterprises.

What are the Eligibility Requirements for Open Call Chatterjee National CSR Fellowship Opportunity 2026 by La-SIYA Socio-Economic Care Foundation?

 

Applicants must:

  • Hold at least a Master’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Research scholars and academicians should possess a doctorate degree or be currently pursuing a PhD from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in research and academic work related to Corporate Social Responsibility in India.
  • Focus their proposed research specifically on mandated CSR practices in India.

Please note that joint applications are not eligible for this fellowship programme.

Research Proposal Submission Process

Applicants are required to prepare their research proposal using the prescribed format provided on the fellowship website. To access the template, candidates should scroll down the page and click on “Research Proposal Format.”

The research proposal and final report must follow these formatting guidelines:

  • Language: English
  • Font Style: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 12
  • Line Spacing: 1.15

In addition to the proposal, applicants must also submit an Undertaking on Research Integrity in the prescribed format, available under the “Research Undertaking” section on the website.

After preparing the required documents, candidates must access the Research Submission Form (Google Form II), complete the form, and upload both: Click to access

Both documents must be submitted through the same Google Form before the specified deadline.

Application Fee

Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹5,000 for proposal screening, application processing, jury evaluation, and related administrative expenses. Payment must be made through the digital payment gateways provided at the bottom of the registration form.

Candidates must upload a screenshot of the successful payment transaction as proof while submitting the registration form. Please note that payment of the application fee does not guarantee selection for the fellowship.

Fellowship Details

The Chatterjee National CSR Fellowship will award:

  • Two fellowships annually
    • One fellowship for a Practitioner
    • One fellowship for an Academician/Scholar/Researcher

Fellowship Value

  • ₹1,00,000 per fellowship

Fellowship Duration

  • One year
Screening and Selection Process

Application Review

All eligible applications will be evaluated by a distinguished three-member jury consisting of experts in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Based on the review process:

  • A shortlist of meritorious candidates will be prepared.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interaction or presentation, either in physical or virtual mode.
  • Final results will be published on the official websites:
    • Bhaskar Chatterjee Foundation
    • La-SIYA Foundation
  • Selected fellows will also be informed individually through email and WhatsApp.

Final Decision

The final selection will be made through an independent evaluation conducted by the appointed jury. The jury’s decision will be final and binding, and the organizers will not entertain claims related to non-selection or non-award of the fellowship.

Applications for the Chatterjee National CSR Fellowship will be invited through the official websites Bhaskar Chatterjee Foundation and Lasiya Foundation.

Interested applicants must complete the online application in the prescribed format through the Registration Google Form-I and submit an application fee of ₹5,000 along with a screenshot of the payment confirmation. Candidates can access the application form by clicking the “REGISTER HERE” link provided on the official portal.

After successful fee payment, applicants will receive a confirmation email and can begin preparing their research proposal, which must be submitted by 31st July 2026.
