2027 Open Call for Billion Acts of Peace Changemaker Fellowship, The One Billion Acts of Peace Campaign, an initiative of the PeaceJam Foundation, is a global citizens’ movement dedicated to addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing our planet.

The campaign was launched by the PeaceJam Foundation on May 29, 2014, at the United Nations Social Innovation Summit. It encourages people around the world to take meaningful, thoughtful actions—known as “Acts of Peace”—to help create a more peaceful and sustainable world.

These acts are based on 10 key global issues identified by Nobel Peace Laureates, giving individuals and communities a practical way to contribute to positive change.

A Global Movement

The campaign has reached people across the globe:

• The campaign website has been visited by citizens from 194 of the world’s 195 nations.
• By January 1, 2016, more than 7 million Acts of Peace had been recorded on the campaign website.
• The campaign has built a social media community of more than 1 million followers.
• It has since grown to more than 80 million Acts of Peace across 171 countries.

Recognition from Nobel Peace Laureates

The campaign has received significant recognition from Nobel Peace Laureates, including Desmond Tutu, Rigoberta Menchú Tum, Betty Williams, Leymah Gbowee, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Jody Williams, and Óscar Arias.

These Nobel Peace Laureates nominated campaign organizers Dawn Engle and Ivan Suvanjieff, along with the One Billion Acts of Peace Campaign, for the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize.

Celebrating Young Changemakers

Every year, the One Billion Acts of Peace Campaign highlights outstanding youth-led acts and projects from around the world. The initiative celebrates young people who are taking action to address global challenges and build more peaceful communities.

Each year, 12 finalists are selected and honored internationally for their inspiring contributions.

Through millions of individual actions, the campaign demonstrates how people—especially young changemakers—can come together to create meaningful change and contribute to a more peaceful world.

What Is the One Billion Acts of Peace Fellowship?

The fellowship is a yearlong opportunity for young changemakers who are actively working to create positive social change. Fellows receive mentorship, funding, networking opportunities, and access to the global PeaceJam community to help strengthen and expand their work.

Yearlong Mentorship

Fellows participate in monthly mentorship sessions focused on the skills and competencies they want to develop. Drawing on the experiences and approaches of Nobel Peace Laureates, the program helps young leaders strengthen their ability to create meaningful change.

A Community of Changemakers

Fellows become part of a global network of changemakers and can connect with:

• Other One Billion Acts of Peace Fellows

• Nonprofit professionals

This community provides opportunities to learn, collaborate, exchange ideas, and build meaningful connections.

Financial Support

Fellows can receive up to $5,000 in project funding to develop, strengthen, or expand their peacebuilding work.

The funding is intended to support the fellow’s project and help increase its impact in the community.

Fellows may be invited to participate in PeaceJam conferences and virtual events. They can also gain access to global opportunities, networks, and resources aligned with their goals and aspirations.

Who Is This Fellowship For?

The fellowship is designed for young adults aged 18–30 who are already taking action to create positive change.

Applicants should:

• Be 18–30 years old.
• Be actively leading or building a project, initiative, or organization focused on peace, justice, equity, or social change.
• Be working in one of the 10 Key Issue Areas identified by the One Billion Acts of Peace Campaign.
• Have a project that could be an emerging nonprofit, grassroots initiative, activist effort, mission-driven business, or similar social-impact venture.
• Be ready to learn, accept constructive challenges, receive support, and remain accountable throughout the fellowship.
• Be willing to contribute to the community, collaborate with others, and bring their authentic perspective.
• Have moved beyond the very beginning stages and be somewhere between “just started” and “gaining traction.” The project does not need to be fully scaled, but applicants should demonstrate a serious commitment to developing their work.
