Funding Information (Application Invited for WCIT Charity Grant Programme 2025 United Kingdom)

  • The WCIT Charity is a modest funder and typically provides support for projects up to £15,000. In select cases, where funding exceeds this amount, the Charity may consider additional financial requests to support project implementation, but only after establishing a strong working relationship with the involved charity or educational organization.
  • This approach ensures that financial contributions from the WCIT Charity are maximized by pairing them with the expertise and guidance of its members, targeting areas where they can achieve the greatest impact. Applicants should note that requests for small contributions toward significantly larger projects (e.g., £15,000 for a £300,000 initiative) are generally unlikely to be approved.

Funding Criteria (Application Invited for WCIT Charity Grant Programme 2025 United Kingdom)

  • The WCIT Charity is more likely to fund projects focused on the development and implementation of innovative services, solutions, training, apps, analytics, AI, robotics, or accessibility features/hardware. They prioritize projects where they are a significant or sole funder, including those where they are the exclusive funder for the IT component of a larger initiative, as well as organizations that could benefit from pro bono support.
  • However, they do not provide funding for core operational expenses (such as the ongoing costs of existing IT infrastructure), political or lobbying activities, local authorities or councils, loans or debt repayments, already completed work or existing services, consultancy fees, or initiatives aimed at building an endowment.

Eligible Projects (Application Invited for WCIT Charity Grant Programme 2025 United Kingdom)

  • As an IT charity, all projects they fund must make use of information technology, and must relate to one or more of the priority areas – education, inclusion, IT for charities, and public understanding of IT. Projects need to demonstrate an innovative use of IT, be scalable for wider replication, and be sustainable over time. As all of the grants are restricted, they expect recipients to produce formal reports on their outcomes.
  • Given the large number of applications they receive and the smaller number of grants they can actually make, it may be useful to understand which sorts of things are more or less likely to receive funding.

Eligibility Criteria (Application Invited for WCIT Charity Grant Programme 2025 United Kingdom)
  • Eligible for funding if your organization is a registered charity, educational institution, or a not-for-profit entity with a formal constitution, such as a community interest company (CIC); CICs limited by shares may also apply. The charity does not provide funding to individuals or private companies.
  • Applications are welcome from newly established organizations, provided they are legally constituted and can supply the necessary documentation. If a new organization is unable to provide the most recent audited or independently examined accounts, an account overview detailing income and expenditure will be acceptable.
