Focus of Intervention and Funding Information (Application Open for SBI Foundation Women Empowerment Projects India Grant Opportunity 2025)

The SBI Foundation is inviting proposals under two critical areas of intervention aimed at empowering women from highly marginalized and vulnerable backgrounds.

The first thematic focus centers on working with women involved in commercial sex work. This includes support for currently active sex workers, retired or aging individuals in the trade, and adolescent girls at high risk of commercial sexual exploitation. The goal is to enable access to rights, rehabilitation, protection, and pathways to a dignified life for those affected by or vulnerable to the sex trade.

The second area emphasizes livelihood generation and economic empowerment of women from marginalized groups. Priority will be given to proposals targeting Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), widows, single women, landless women, PwDs (Persons with Disabilities), individuals Below the Poverty Line (BPL), and survivors of trafficking and sex work. These interventions should aim to create sustainable income opportunities, market linkages, and social reintegration.

Each selected project will be eligible for funding support between ₹25 lakhs to ₹2 crores, with an implementation period of 2 to 3 years, based on the project’s design and scope.

For interventions under the first focus area, project activities are expected to be carried out in India’s red-light districts, with preference given to locations in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Delhi. For the second focus area, proposals should target metropolitan and tier-two cities, particularly in regions with limited last-mile connectivity and economic opportunities.
