Individual applicants must hold a minimum of a graduate degree from a recognised university, while organisational proposals must be headed by a person with the same qualification.

Projects funded under the WCT-BEES Grant must be strictly conservation-focused within India and should be completed within 10 months. Most of the grant should be allocated to on-ground project activities and fieldwork. Basic equipment such as GPS devices or rangefinders may be covered, but funding will not extend to high-cost items like cameras, laptops, vehicles, organisational overheads, infrastructure development, litigation, or enforcement expenses.
Additionally, the grant does not fund travel for seminars, conferences, or laboratory-based research. However, master’s dissertation projects that align with the programme’s conservation priorities are eligible to apply.
