Entries Open for ThinkSafe A Road Safety Ideathon 2026 India

Entries Open for ThinkSafe A Road Safety Ideathon 2026 India, The Centre of Excellence for Road Safety (CoERS), IIT Madras, under the aegis of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), in collaboration with MyGov, invites students, innovators, and change-makers across India to ideate transformative solutions for safer roads and responsible mobility.

ThinkSafe challenges participants to propose practical, scalable, and high-impact interventions that address India’s most urgent road safety issues.
This is a purely conceptual ideathonno prototype or proof of concept is required.

Participants must submit a well-articulated idea supported by:

  1. A structured presentation (PPT – max 8 slides)

Clear, concise, and compelling — capturing problem insights, your solution idea, feasibility, impact, and scalability.

  1. An explainer video (5–10 minutes)

Upload to a publicly accessible online drive. The video should walk through your idea with clarity and storytelling.

Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the full details and submit their applications before the specified deadline to seize this grant opportunity.

Focus Areas for Entries Open for ThinkSafe A Road Safety Ideathon 2026 India

 

Ideas must focus on promoting responsible road behaviour, civic responsibility, and defensive driving habits among road users. Participants must clearly define the problem, target group, context, and practical implementation using the 4W1H methodology:

  1. Problem Statement: What is the identified road safety or civic behaviour problem/ challenge
  2. Why: Explain why the identified problem is important, who it affects, and how addressing it can reduce risk, improve safety, or enhance civic responsibility on roads.

iii. What: What is the suggested intervention/ idea that addresses the identified problem.

  1. Who: Define the target group that benefits by the solution (e.g., pedestrians, two-wheeler riders, motorists, public transport users, or mixed road users).
  2. Where: Specify the context or setting for application (e.g., intersections, school zones, urban streets, highways, residential areas).
  3. How: Describe the methodology of working of the proposed solutions as a flowchart/ graphical representation of working steps. The solution is to be practical, low-cost and high impact. It should be a scalable and implementable strategy/ solution.

vii. Expected Impact of the solution.

Winner Selection Criteria: for Entries Open for ThinkSafe A Road Safety Ideathon 2026 India

 

Winners will be evaluated by a jury based on:

(i) Clarity and depth of the proposed idea.

(ii) Originality of the idea and its potential to introduce new thinking, technologies, or strategies in road safety.

(iii) The extent to which the proposed intervention prioritizes user needs and offers scalable, practical, and sustainable impact.

(iv) Potential to create measurable improvements in road safety outcomes, with emphasis on behavioral change, cost-effectiveness, and ease of implementation.

(v) Compliance with the specified submission format, content requirements, and presentation rules (e.g., slide limit, explainer video recording).

1.) First winner to receive prize money of ₹30,000/-.

2.) Second winner to receive prize money of ₹15,000/-.

3.) Third winner to receive prize money of ₹10,000/-.
