Applications are now open for National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) Paralegal Fellowship 2026 (VAP), through its Victim Advocacy Project (VAP) under the Centre for Criminology and Victimology. This fellowship provides a unique opportunity for aspiring legal professionals and paralegals to work closely with victims of crime while contributing to efforts aimed at improving access to justice and victim participation within the criminal justice system.

The position is contractual in nature and offers fellows hands-on exposure to victim advocacy, legal assistance, case documentation, community engagement, and justice delivery mechanisms. Selected fellows will be based in the Delhi NCR region and are expected to join from 1 July 2026.

About the Victim Advocacy Project (VAP)

The Victim Advocacy Project is a justice-oriented initiative that seeks to strengthen the role of victims within the criminal justice system. The project addresses gaps in legal representation and victim support by providing continuous assistance from the registration of an FIR through trial, appeals, and rehabilitation processes.

Through a combination of litigation support, research, advocacy, and field engagement, VAP aims to create a sustainable model of victim-centered legal assistance while ensuring that victims are treated as rights-bearing participants throughout legal proceedings.

Selected Paralegal Fellows will play an important role in supporting victims of crime and facilitating their access to justice. Their responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for victims and assisting them throughout various stages of the justice process.
  • Building trust and maintaining communication with victims, families, and community-based organizations.
  • Identifying cases that may require legal or advocacy support.

Essential Requirements

  • Must have passed Class 10.
  • Should possess a minimum of two years of experience working with community-based organizations, victims, survivors, or vulnerable and marginalized groups.
  • Proficiency in Hindi and/or regional languages commonly spoken in Delhi NCR.
  • Ability to interact with victims respectfully, empathetically, and in a trauma-informed manner.
  • Good communication skills and basic documentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to victim support, access to justice, and community engagement.
  • Willingness to undertake field-based work and actively participate in training and mentorship activities.
