Connected Communities Fund – Stage 1: Expression of Interest

This stage represents the initial Expression of Interest (EOI) phase. Shortlisted applicants will later be invited to provide a more in-depth project presentation.

The Connected Communities Fund is designed to support large-scale, higher-risk, and higher-investment proposals, which require a detailed application process and comprehensive reporting once funded. Applicants must clearly demonstrate strong organisational skills, the capability to manage complex projects, and the capacity to deliver meaningful outcomes. Only new concepts or projects will be considered, and all submissions must directly align with one of the Council-endorsed themes for the financial year.

Eligibility Requirements for 2026 Connected Communities Round 2 Grants for Australia Applications Open Now

 

To qualify, a project or program must:

  • Align with one of the fund’s identified themes
  • Meet all core selection criteria
  • Show a 30% co-contribution from the applicant towards the initiative
  • Be a new proposal, not an ongoing or previously funded project

There is no upper limit to the amount an organisation may request under this fund.

Council has endorsed the following five themes for the 2025/26 funding round:

  1. Capacity

Supports community-driven collaborations, partnerships, and initiatives that equip groups with improved skills, knowledge, and organisational capability.

  1. Place

Encourages projects that enhance, activate, or improve community spaces—including Council-managed facilities, parks, and publicly accessible areas—to create vibrant, inclusive environments.

  1. Connect

Backs community-led efforts that strengthen social ties, inspire civic engagement, deepen understanding, and foster meaningful interaction across the community.

  1. Wellbeing

Focuses on initiatives that promote healthy, safe, supportive environments through programs, partnerships, activities, or resources that improve physical and emotional wellbeing.

  1. Planning

Supports development of strategic documents, plans, or programs that help organisations build sustainable, well-governed, and future-focused operations and facilities.
