NextWorldNow (NWN) believes that global communities can collaborate in an informed and personalized manner, utilizing technology and resources to enhance the well-being of individuals within each community.
Our Aim
We invest in and support community development projects requiring modest capital. We fund projects that are owned by the local community, whose social impact and return on investment can be measured, and whose success can be sustained. In the spirit of innovation, we aim for a diverse “portfolio” of projects and geographies to spread creative solutions.
We work to discover and apply best practice social investment models on a small scale personal level. Our process invites ongoing direct connection with the sponsored community rather than an anonymous one-time donation. We believe it is possible to invest in projects that increase the wellbeing of communities while avoiding unintended harm. We operate with minimal overhead and a goal of funneling nearly 100% of grant resources to the intended community project.
NextWorldNow Community Investments (NWN) works with individuals, communities, and other organizations to make this happen. We invite communities with project ideas to submit their requests for funding. We study the requests and make funding decisions. We welcome scale-able partnerships with other organizations on joint projects. We invest in solutions built to last, looking beyond short term fixes to address long standing problems. We continue to refine our process as we learn more about what works and what does not. NWN is a non profit private foundation with United States 501 (c) (3) status.
Grant Cycle Timeframe and Decision Process (Apply for NextWorldNow Grant 2025)
- Jan 1 – Application period opens. Interested community organizations complete a brief one page “Notification of Interest” to register intent to submit a formal grant application.
- March 1 – Application period closes (subject to earlier closing based on volume of received notifications)
- April – Organizations selected for continued consideration in second phase are notified and requested to complete full application. All first and second phase applicants notified of status.
- May – Second phase application deadline
- June – Finalists selected and zoom interviews conducted
- July – Finalists Interviewed and awards determined
- September – Investment awards announced. All second phase participants notified of award decisions Grant disbursement provided. in three intervals:
- First disbursement (50% of award) provided upon award announcement
- Second disbursement (35% of award) provided based on documentation of 50% completion including expense verification and narrative report
- Final disbursement (15% of award) provided contingent on receipt of 12 month project report on outcomes progress including expense documentation
- Provide brief 2 year report on status of project
Selection Process (Apply for NextWorldNow Grant 2025)
NextWorldNow reviews applications and rates the proposal based on these factors:
- Feasibility – how realistic is the plan to meet its goals and gain success?
- Impact – how many people within a community benefit?
- Sustainability – are there other resources to keep the project going after an initial grant?
- Relevance – how important is the problem to the community?
- Creativity – how unique is the solution?
- Outcomes – how will success be measured?
- Strength – what is the level of commitment by the leaders to make this project work?
- Engagement – how involved is the greater community in determining and managing the project?
- Financial – how solid is the budget and business plan?
