The DIV Fund provides a structured, three-stage funding pathway designed to maximize social impact. Across all stages, priority is given to solutions that offer strong social returns—evaluated through factors like cost per beneficiary, depth of impact, and especially the potential to scale effectively with DIV support.
Stage 1: Pilot — Up to US $200,000
Stage 1 focuses on testing promising ideas in real-world settings. Funding supports early validation activities such as assessing user demand, feasibility, potential impact, and financial sustainability.
By the end of this stage, the goal is to determine whether the innovation works in practice, attracts users, and shows enough promise for further investment.
Stage 2: Test & Position for Scale — Up to US $500,000*
At this stage, the emphasis is on proving impact and preparing for growth. Funding may be used for rigorous evaluations, market validation, refining business models, and testing scalability through strategic expansion.
By completion, the innovation should demonstrate measurable impact, cost-effectiveness, and a clear pathway to scale.
Stage 3: Scale — Up to US $1.5M
Stage 3 supports the expansion of proven, high-impact innovations. To qualify, applicants must show strong evidence of effectiveness, cost-efficiency, or commercial viability, along with the ability to leverage partnerships for wider adoption.
The aim is to ensure the solution can sustain large-scale impact without long-term reliance on grant funding.

Applications are evaluated based on three core principles, with expectations evolving across stages:
- Evidence of Impact: Strong, credible proof that the innovation improves lives. Early-stage applicants should present a well-founded theory of change, while later stages require rigorous evidence.
- Cost-Effectiveness: Preference is given to solutions that deliver higher impact per dollar compared to existing alternatives, either by reducing costs, increasing outcomes, or both.
- Potential for Durable Scale: Innovations should have the capacity to reach over one million people and demonstrate a clear path to long-term financial sustainability.
DIV welcomes diverse scaling pathways—whether through public funding, philanthropy, private sector models, or a hybrid approach—and evaluates each application in line with its chosen path to scale.

The DIV Fund accepts applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. All applicants submit an application, which allows us to understand your innovation’s potential and fit against our funding criteria.
All applications must be submitted through our online portal. If your innovation advances past the initial review stage, more detailed materials (e.g., study designs, project budgets, partnership letters) will be requested during our full diligence process.
