The National Arts Council call for bursary applications for the academic year beginning in January 2026 South Africa, The funding of bursaries plays a vital role in developing the arts and promoting excellence. By supporting training and education, the NAC provides bursary grants to help nurture the skills of students, art practitioners, art technicians, arts administrators, and other professionals within the sector. This support helps ensure that South Africa maintains a sustainable pipeline of talented artists and cultural leaders.
This invitation is open to registered education and training institutions involved in offering studies or tuition in theatre, dance, crafts, literature, multidiscipline, music, visual arts, cultural policy, arts and culture management, and other arts-related fields.
The call includes:
Block Institutional Bursaries for undergraduate students who will be studying in South Africa during 2026. Institutions applying for funding must commit to supporting undergraduate students for the full duration of their degree programme, subject to the successful completion of each academic year. Participating institutions should also be prepared to enter into a service-level agreement with the NAC to formalise this commitment.
Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the full details and submit their applications before the specified deadline to seize this grant opportunity.
