SHARE INDIA, in collaboration with CDC, is supporting the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in strengthening laboratory-based surveillance and outbreak response through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). The project focuses on capacity-building of district and state public health laboratories, implementation of biosafety and quality systems, and the adoption of advanced diagnostic technologies to enhance national public health surveillance.

SHARE INDIA seeks to engage a highly motivated and qualified microbiologist to serve as a Consultant to strengthen the laboratory capacity of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) of the Government of India. The consultant will be posted in New Delhi and will work closely with CDC India to support national-level laboratory initiatives.

The position offers a unique opportunity to become conversant with modern diagnostic platforms including multipathogen testing using automated multiplex PCR systems, Luminex-based multibead assays, Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), and geospatial mapping of infectious disease hotspots. The consultant will contribute to the implementation of a sustainable, mentorship-based model of laboratory strengthening within the IDSP referral lab network.

Work in close coordination with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to support national laboratory strengthening under IDSP.
Build the capacity of microbiologists and laboratory technicians of IDSP network labs through structured mentorship, onsite supervision, and remote guidance.
Assist in the development and dissemination of SOPs, diagnostic algorithms, and standardized reporting of test results related to Acute Febrile Illness (AFI), Acute Diarrheal Disease (ADD), and other IDSP priority conditions.
Promote and support the adoption of modern diagnostic technologies such as multiplex PCR platforms, Luminex assays, and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS).
Act as the technical coordinator for the State IDSP Referral Laboratory Network and serve as a link between district and state laboratories.
Monitor laboratory performance and provide regular updates and feedback to CDC and IDSP leadership.
Provide technical assistance for the implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and biosafety protocols at IDSP network laboratories.
Support laboratory responses during outbreak investigations by guiding specimen management and rapid testing procedures.
Travel within India may be required for programmatic reviews, mentoring visits, and outbreak response.

Compensation Offered:

The remuneration for this position is competitive and will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience, and last drawn salary of the selected candidate.
