The Birds and Bees Talk program has developed an innovative, engaging curriculum designed to address the information gap around Young people’s Reproductive and Sexual Health and Rights to provide them with a comprehensive life skills curriculum that addresses Power, Protection and Pleasure. The project aims to use an affirmative approach to sexuality education as part of essential life skills and holistic development to equip adolescents with the right knowledge, skills, attitudes and values.

Programme Objective:

  • Empower Adolescents with critical lifesaving information that promotes healthy behaviors to grow into responsible, Healthy Adults.
  • Equip students with essential life skills, knowledge, attitude, and values.

Programme Outcome: Knowledge, Awareness and Behavioural outcomes:

  • Improved Knowledge and Awareness about sexual health, sexual risk behaviour, gender equality and Diversity.
  • Positive improvement in self-confidence, self-awareness, social skills.

Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) are the first line of defence against COVID-19. It is widely recognized that access to clean, running water and soap for handwashing is a critical need that must be met in our global response to the pandemic. The School Hygiene Project will embed best practices of sanitation and hygiene into a habit among children, parents and community for improved health and nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant and lactating women.

A clean school has huge potential to create a cycle of opportunities, moreover, early years of a child’s life are very crucial as they lay the foundation to future learning and development and healthy hygiene routines last throughout their lives. Young children are fast learners, they adapt new behaviour more easily than adults, once capacitated they can challenge existing practices around them and can also lead to the adaption of new behaviour. Plan India believes in the potential of young children, have been promoting children as change agents on various health and hygiene related programmes and have successfully harvested the ripple effect of child led interventions.

Plan International-India Chapter, acknowledge the importance of realizing the human rights to food, water and sanitation to end poverty, eliminate inequalities and reach the SDGs. And children are the key to reach the objective hence, the proposed project will embed best practices of sanitation and hygiene into a habit among children, parents and community for improved improve health and nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant and lactating women.

The project Goal is to strengthen the school hygiene programme to ensure better health and hygiene outcomes for children, their family and community. The project objective is institutional strengthening and building

KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES (NGO Job Opportunity for State Manager in Mizoram Last Date 6 July 2025 Apply Fast)

 

  • Overall responsible for quality implementation of programs in district.
  • Lead the team members and provide supportive supervision.
  • Provide hands on support for quality implementation of program at district level.
  • Develop Monthly, Quarterly and Annual work plan and ensure the implementation as per the plan
  • Manage and supervise the project team for smooth implementation of programme
  • Participate in State and district level meetings & workshops and share the programme updates with the Govt. Counterparts
  • Identify obstructions through regular field visits using checklists and finding solutions
  • Planning and conduction of TOT at district level
  • Ensuring implementation of field activities at district level.
  • Monitoring and Supportive supervision to school teachers and field staff for school sessions/ digital sessions
  • Liasoning with media person for visibility of project at district, block and community level.
  • Conduction of extracurricular activities with school children to make the learning enjoyable.
  • Planning and conduction of Special Days Celebration as per the state and community culture.
  • Facilitate the process of Community-based activity through active involvement of government officials, NGOs youth clubs, schools, colleges, etc.
  • Organize the monthly meeting with project staff and build their capacity
  • Capacity building of project staff through regular sessions in meeting and through demonstration for delivery of quality services.
  • Reporting for monthly, quarterly and annual reports and submission in timely manner
  • Support in providing best practices, case studies related to program on Monthly/Quarterly basis
  • Advocacy and liaison with government departments in promoting the project activities and involve them for program greater participation.
  • Fortnightly report in specified electronic format submitted to the Reporting Manager
  • Monthly progress report will cover the activities performed, and the outcomes against planned activities and indicators, key accomplishments, problems identified and solutions worked/ proposed
  • Preparation of relevant document of activities specific for effective intervention including all the information with coverage and snaps
  • Ensures that the tri-level modules are implemented in selected schools using the 5-Step Experiential Learning Method.
  • Coordinate’s capacity building of implementing partners and provides on-going technical guidance.
  • Conduction of extracurricular activities with school children to make the learning enjoyable.
  • Planning and conduction of Special Days Celebration as per the state and community culture.
  • Facilitate the process of Community-based activity through active involvement of government officials, NGOs, schools, etc.
  • Organize the monthly meeting with project staff and build their capacity
