Background (Apply for Prajas Governance & Climate Action Fellowship Programme 2025 in Assam)
Assam is experiencing rapid urbanisation, making its cities increasingly vulnerable to climate-related challenges. Guwahati, the state’s largest and most developed city, and Dibrugarh being the second largest city, faces recurrent urban flooding during the monsoon, severely disrupting daily life and economic activities. Praja has been actively collaborating with the Assam State, to advance urban governance.
The Systemic Changes for Climate adaptation initiative will not only pave the way for Assam to transition towards a climate-resilient, and sustainable urban environment but also aims to build collaboration between various departments, civil society, and the community at large to play a pivotal role in achieving good governance.
This fellowship involves two key areas: outreach and capacity building. You’ll work directly with a range of stakeholders, including Elected Representatives(Councillors & MLAs), City and state officials, and civil society organizations, to address urban governance issues. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with colleges, universities, and other civil society groups to enhance their understanding and capabilities in climate action and urban governance
This iteration of the fellowship will be physically held and college students/ youth will have an opportunity to work with the administration, elected representatives, civil society organisations, colleges/universities and citizens in Gurugram. The fellowship will give the students/ youth an in-depth understanding of the ground-level realities of urban governance and help government for better governed cities.
Note: Praja’s Governance & Climate Action Fellowship Programme will be an in person/onsite, full time and paid fellowship for the period of 10 months starting from July 2025
